I use Flac Frontend as well - like many have already said. It's so easy and very quick. I've used Foobar 2000 in the past - it works well enough and is simple to use.
Yeah I upload the FLAC into Audacity then I extract as WAV then extract the WAV into mp3...just takes a little bit longer that way I guess. and are WAV files bigger than mp3 files?

WAV are uncompressed audio files - approximately 10 megabytes per minute of music. MP3 are highly compressed files - approximately 1 megabyte per minute of music (both size estimates vary depending on sample rate). WAV files store much more audio data than MP3s.
FLAC frontend was great, but became a pain when I switched to vista. A pain in the sense that to get it to work, you have to right click and select "run as administrator", but aside from that, it still works. But I'm lazy, so it irritates me.
I use mediamonkey. Once you get it, you will throw away itunes. There is a free version but the real deal is the lifetime license for about $40 which has the added conversion on the fly features. With it, I no longer need to convert files which I found to be a pain. You set it up so it converts flac to mp3's on the fly - with a simple click to send to your ipod. Also you do the same on the fly burn of flacs to CD.
use dbpoweramp it's free and simple and it has a codec page for all formats...
I use a script I wrote, for the command line, that converts FLAC to WAV, then to MP3.
ooooh I wish I could do that hahaha
Just yesterday I found a pretty simple method on google that you can do without conversion software.
Use Winamp to convert the FLAC to WAV format. Takes about 5 secs per song. Then open iTunes and load the WAV files into your library. Now select those files and convert to Mp3. Only takes a couple mins.
Google "convert flac to mp3" and it should be the first site listed. It may seem complicated upon first glance but the intructions are very clear and it really is easy.

That's exactly what I did this week. Very simple to do.
