so, i decided to burn off the definative bootleg for each album/tour and would like some input (i've got a few ideas - hengelo, high sierras, wetlands).... i think the discussion will be good for everyone during this hip lull, amen.
factors to consider 1) quality 2) rants, jams 3) crowd banter 4) performances of song for first time / rarely played 5) and MOST importantly any exposition, inside info, special stories behind the show.
and..... GO !

i agree, i'm trying to get some new boots, stopped collecting roughly in 98, any recomendations for shows from 1999 to present.
i hope you're digging deep into your collections to reflect... even if you have a great darkhorse show you saw live throw it out for discussion.... someone will have the boot 'round this ring i'm sure !

milwaukee show in 98 around christmas times is probably my favourite boot, also like gino sweeden 94, great quality and excellent rants. any suggestions on other shows.
the 89 toronto christmas show put on by the edge. great show. good rants and talking with the crowd.
I'd say 3-08-91 Coyotes AZ, Ottawa ARA 93, 9:30 Club Washington 96, Brussells Belgium 95, I'll keep on pondering the notion :mrgreen:
While good quality shows are essential, we gotta think about the shows where the quality might not have been so great, but the band was on fire...my first thought is the tour closer from 2000, 12.23.00. At the time, they played a bunch of rarer songs, and you could tell all the boys were in great holiday spirits. At the Zoo in Toledo, 08.22.98 was another fantastic performance...just thoughts! :thumb:
The show which to me symbolizes the band at it's absolute best, is unfortunately also one of the poorest quality boots out there...Maple Leaf Gardens - 02-10-95 (their first headlining show at MLG as part of their first Canadian major arena tour)...great rants, rare tracks and the band at their peak of popularity make this a classic, IMHO...

I agree 95 at MLG was a great show, I wish the quality was better. I was at the show but didn't realize the uniqueness of the show until years later when hearing it on boot and comparing it to other shows. Any new boots that you can recomend from 99 and on.
My first hip show was from the Day For Night tour in Kamloops and it was amazing, they played a lot of great tracks but the key was the closer...they played a piped up version of werewolf baby...the arena floor was covered with these boards and people were jumping around all crazy when they played it that the whole floor just shook. I have always hoped that someone out there had the boot or even a etlist, because it was amazing. That track would belong on any definitive collection for that tour. Anyone else there? Also for me, I agree about the 93 ottawa ARA show, the Coyotes Show from 91, Copper Penny from 88? is very unique and Shepard's bush boot from the Music at Work tour.
Yes the DFN Canadian Tour was awe inspiring
hock: I was at the Calgary gig and man was that a site to behold. The Hip kicked ass and took names that night,totally blew away that entire crowd,I'll never forgot 50 mission cap man, the best single rendition i heard them ever do. it was my first show and I was hooked for life. I always wished also to find a boot of that show but alas no-one not to my knowledge recorded that beaut.
i hope the band recorded it, maybe one day they'll release all these gigs no-one recorded.
