Just wondering if anyone else around here knows about these movements of a better society and what their thoughts are.
Especially the venus project where the monetary system is replaced with a resource-based one.

The "resource chip" system just seems like a fancy way of saying "money" to me. Not sure what the big difference is.

This is not about a resource chip. Thats still the monetary system and therefore will always have curruption. The venus project is resource-based literally on resources.
This is it in a nutshell: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 3163636261
It's interesting all the way through, but the actual resource-based system i was referring to is about 49 mins into it (section 3 of the video)
I'm just going to be honest. I think it's a cult. It's not my intention to be dismissive or insulting. I am concerned that people who are honestly looking for answers are being misled.
Theoretically, a resource based system is superb.

Realistically, how do you make it work... sure it's easy to understand how you'd barter food for services and such like, but and labour intensive activities would be impossible to maintain because every person would need an equal share of any bartering, which would render whatever they are creating impossible to trade on a large scale.

It would also make it very dificult to quantify the arts!

Your opinion is not uncommon but most opinions change after researchign this in it's entirety. Right now things are looking like they are heading towards a bad economic depression world wide and it seems the only thing that can boost the economy from that depression is another war cause by false terrorism, at least thats how its been historically. Im just glad at least some people are thinking about rebuilding from the ground up...

Wikipedia-
An article in the weekly Seattle paper The Stranger later reprinted in the Utne Reader magazine, said:

"It's fiction, couched in a few facts [...] and it adds up to the worst kind of fear-mongering."

It also commented on the irony in the film's three-part structure by noting that

"It's fascinating, this structure. First the film destroys the idea of God, and then, through the lens of 9/11, it introduces a sort of new Bizarro God. Instead of an omnipotent, omniscient being who loves you and has inspired a variety of organized religions, there is an omnipotent, omniscient organization of ruthless beings who hate you and want to take your rights away, if not throw you in a work camp forever."

People are indeed looking for answers and unfortunately they find Zeitgeist. If you dig deep enough into Zeitgeist you will find The Process Church, Conspiracy Theory, lizard people, "Satanism", Nazism, etc. all rolled up into one big ball of disinformation. It is Right Wing propaganda cloaked as a left wing movement.

There I said it.

This guy said it better...

Zeitgeist - the greatest lie ever told

If you spend time poring through Google Video, as I do, you have to develop a filter for the endless sea of Religious, New Age or Conspiracy Theorist crap. Zeitgeist is the latest addition to this fecal tide, but I am linking to it because its an interesting example of a media phenomenon. A bad phenomenon but an interesting one.

There are a finite set of actors for conspiracy theory plots: Christians, Merovingians, the Illuminati, Freemasons, Jews, the Federal Reserve, and the most recent catastrophe that is closest to home (JFK assassination, 911 etc.). From the anti-semitic forgery, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, to Dan Brown’s the Da Vinci code, Alex Jones’ 911 rantings and now Zeitgeist. They are all part of the same genus - the Fucking Entertaining Big Lie (FEBL).

You can usually spot a FEBL film from the outset because they often use cheap graphic effects with bad rendering and metaphors. In Zeitgeist we have the earth surrounded by a pixelated metal cage. Zeitgeist comes in three parts and an Overture (and not much of a Coda). The Overture shows a series of powerful archive imagery of violent acts, historically relevant to an American audience. The images of violence are treated seriously, but they are basically entertainment.

Part 1. is a loosely plagiarized version of the God Who Wasn’t There, complete with much of the same archive footage. The premise is that Christianity is based upon previous religions. Fair enough, apart from the plagiarism. Part 2 and 3 show 911 and then talk about the Federal Reserve and how, you know, like everything is linked man. 911 seems to be used in the same way as the Overture - as violent pornography, a real life Die Hard, but under the guise of polemic. The argument about the Federal Reserve as a government conspiracy, begs the question - why would a conspiratorial public body setup a private central bank? In Zeitgeist, anti-Semitism has been replaced by jingoist libertarianism - somehow the idea of American income tax is un-American, and free trade within North America shows Lou Dobbs as a patriot fighting against dark forces, rather than an armchair racist.

Here is the problem, FEBL media usually means nothing and is patently false but incredibly seductive. It is the perfect scaffold to hang propaganda and acts like a bit-borne, pernicious narcotic. Although films like Zeitgeist are mildly entertaining, due to their unbelievable popularity (more than 5 Million people have watched it on YouTube), they must be taken seriously. I suspect they might actually be dangerous, and therefore, as someone who does not believe in censorship it is important to make fun of Zeitgeist as the tired piece of po-faced, visually illiterate, polemically challenged, pornographic bullshit that it is.
ok nice to know. Of course the first movie had some crazy ideas but for the most part i really like what jacque fresco had to say in the second movie from 2008. It sounded good. I also liked Penn and Teller's episode of "bullshit" about world piece.
Do you think there will ever be a resolution to our primitive way of live?
Jacque Fresco is an interesting character however I find it funny that his concept for the circular city looks exactly like the seven ring city of Atlantis. He's no Buckminster Fuller.

Yes, I do think we can change the world for the better but I take issue with the thinking that there needs to be a resolution to our "primitive way of life", life evolves. Theoretical physicist and futurist Dr Michio Kaku is more my style.

I dont disagree with anything mr kaku says about technology. I have thought the same way as him in that regard. But i believe as long as people need profit to survive in a world of scarcity that people will do bad things for self-interest.
