My WATS Vinyl arrived today. Nice thick flat black vinyl...but very noisy (crackle) in spots. How quiet is yours?
just got mine today ... haven't spun it yet!
(got the CD day one.)
Mine has not made a single noise yet. Its just sitting there on the table and I put my ear to it and NOTHING. not a scratch or squeek. NOHTING. You got some exceptional copy there dude.

What type of source and cartridge are you running?
Mine sound's great, and that's on a failing turntable. I was actually surprised at the lack of crackles. But on another note there's already a thread related to hip vinyl that's been up for the last couple of weeks, check it out. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13728
I gave my vinyl a spin again last night and realized I never got my free digital download card. Anyone else not receive theirs?

Double check the side 3/4 cover/sleeve...that's where mine was. Returning both my copies...junk. I'll wait for a second pressing...if there is one

Junk? Why?
I had a dream that I was shopping for WATS on vinyl with Gord Downie... He was pissed because they didn't have the official release of WATS, but rather a cheap compilation of WATS songs, with other hip songs, selling for $180. While he was searching through stacks of vinyl, he sung me an unaccompanied version of a theme song from 'ER' (I didn't know ER had theme songs...), but it sounded amazing! After we couldn't find the record, we split off on a hunt across Winnipeg to find it. He gave me his phone number to call him as soon as I found it.

 That last part reminded me of that How I Met Your Mother episode where Regis gives Barney his phone number so he could call him if they found that famous burger place that sold 'the best burgers in the world' after going on a hunt through New York to find the place.

The Universal "Back to Black" series/label has a very poor reputation in audiophile circles and these first WATS pressings (at least my two) bear that out. Very bad surface noice (crackle) in various spots...all 4 sides.

I don't know if i said it already, but mine has absolutely no crackling at all. I was actually thoroughly impressed, seeing as I'm playing it on a turntable that seriously needs replacement.
"in audiophile circles"... That's your problem, right there.
