I know that the inevitable "awards shows are a farce" post will inevitably show up. Anyways, I just watched the telecast, and I am so glad they've moved away from long boring speeches and focus on performances now.
I was surprised to see that Plant/Krauss won so many Grammys... not that they didn't deserve it... but it was released in October of 07 -- I'm not sure what the window of eligibility is, but anyways... kudos.
This was the showstopper for me though:

The ONLY reason I was planted in front of the TV that night!

I watched the Grammy's too, i agree, i'm definitely in favor of the shorten speeches & put more emphasis on the live performances...but overall i thought this years line-up was pretty weak, at least from a rock perspective. I thought last years show was great, a couple of performances that stand out was the Foo Fighters, and then John Fogerty playing with Jerry Lee Lewis & Little Richard!

As for this years show...i enjoyed Radiohead, but aside from that...BB King was cool, but way too short (John Mayer is a pretty good guitar player!), and honestly i thought Taylor Swift & Miley Cyrus did a good job together. As a NY Rangers fan, Neil Diamond doing "sweet caroline" was alright too! That's a song i wish i could hear about 50 times a year...41 times during the regular season, and another 8-10 times in the playoffs

How awful was Katy Perry doing "i kissed a girl"?? That was brutal! And Coldyplay?? Best ROCK album??? C'mon.
