Hello Mac Users:
I am totally new to Mac and just recently picked up an iMac at the apple store. I have a few questions for you Mac experts out there.
1) What software is best to use for burning stuff? I used Nero with my pc but my Mac didn't come with software for burning?
2) What software should I be using to watch the hip dvd's from thehiptracker? I've downloaded a bunch but don't have a program to watch them right after download?
3) What bit torrent software works with Mac?
4) Does flac frontend work with Mac?
5) Does winamp work with Mac?
If anyone could address these questions, that would be very helpfuly.
Thanks,
Jamie
Hello Mac Users:
Welcome!
I am totally new to Mac and just recently picked up an iMac at the apple store. I have a few questions for you Mac experts out there.

You can burn from the OS - no additional software needed. iTunes for music, iPhoto for photo discs, iDVD for videos you create, Finder for files. If you need additional burning capabilities, get Toast.
2) What software should I be using to watch the hip dvd's from thehiptracker? I've downloaded a bunch but don't have a program to watch them right after download?
Yes you do. DVD Player is included with Mac OS. It will play all the DVDs either on disc, or right from your hard drive.
3) What bit torrent software works with Mac?
Lots do but I prefer Transmission and Azureus (aka Vuze). uTorrent is out there/coming soon.
4) Does flac frontend work with Mac?
No. But xAct for Mac does.
5) Does winamp work with Mac?
No. But iTunes plays just about everything except FLACs.

If there are Windows apps that you absolutely have to run, get a copy of Windows and install it on your iMac using BootCamp (free with OS X), Parallels (~$100), or VMWare (~$100).
thanks a lot Chris. I will try some of those tips when I get home. I tried using dvd player but couldn't get the vids to play straight from my computer.
I will try again and thanks for your time.

If they're burned to disc, DVD Player should start when you insert the disc - unless you've changed the settings.
To play the files from your hard drive, start DVD Player and then go to "File > Open DVD Media..." and choose the main DVD folder, or the VIDEO_TS folder.
Have fun, and ask away!
