Apparently I missed an opportunity to see Gord Downie perform with Dallas Green and City and Colour (notice I used the Canadian spelling...lol) last night. One of the local Windsor/Detroit, CHUM owned alternative radio stations, 93.9 The River (CIDR), held their 2nd annual Winter Ice Breaker concert at the Fillmore/Detroit. The concert had numerous artists and the headliner was City and Colour. The DJ on the radio today said the concert was great and Gord Downie made a guest star appearence.

I assume Gord sang "Sleeping Sickness" with the band. It is very popular in this area and 93.9 The River plays it often (along with many other Hip songs). I don't know if Gord sang any other songs last night. I had heard rumors that Gord might be at the show, but it had sold out by the time I had heard this. I also didn't consider the rumors very credible, but these multiple artist/festival type shows are typically the ones that Gord D. and the rest of The Hip like to play at.
Cool.
Now let's hope Gord shows up tonight in Buffalo.

I could see that happening. Gord travels with the band from Detroit to Buffalo for a 2nd show, then crosses the border back into Ontario to go home to Toronto.

I was at the V-Fest in Calgary when Gord came out & sang Sleeping Sickness with C&C, and it was awesome!

Put me down as a City & Colour fan as well. I was right in front of the stage at V-Fest when Gord came out and sang with both Dallas Green and the Constantines. The crowd went absolutely bananas each time. It was an all-Canadian lineup that day and it was cool to see the comaraderie between all the artists. During the Hip's closing set you could see members of all the other bands watching and rocking out at the side of the stage. I specifically remember spotting Amy Millan of Stars singing along to Wheat Kings.

The other was Crash Parallel. Crash Parallel is
everything that is wrong with rock music.

I didn't like Stars either. In fact they bored me to tears. I also agree regarding Crash parallel. I actually had no idea they played at V-Fest. Were they over on the "B" stage? The only band I caught over there was New Pornographers.

Ya, they were on the B stage when Corb Lund was on the Main stage. The best band I saw on the B stage was Ten Second Epic. Man, they rocked out so hard & got the crowd into it... they played like they were the main stage!
