Alright folks — need some input. In my office fantasy league I drafted borth Carson Palmer and Eli Manning. Carson broke his nose and is expected to start against Baltimore wearing a clear shield. Eli Manning is playing tonight against Washington.

Who should I, in your opinion, start this week. Must set lineups before the game tonight!

I'm thinking Cinci will run roughshod over Baltimore — but who do you think will post the better QB stats?

Some observations after week one, with the exception of the Monday nighter, being over:

--The Lions are an embarassment. Matt Millen should have been fired three years ago.
--The Bengals are a disgrace and have no heart. Marvin Lewis is a truly crappy coach.
--The Bills look like they still have a great special teams unit.
--The Browns can't tackle and have a horrendous defence.
--The Pats are no longer contenders.
--The Jets and Dolphins are both very mediocore.
--The Redskins have an inept head coach, a below average QB, and are a really bad team.
--The Panthers/Chargers game was great to watch, with a magnificent ending that made me happy.
--The Eagles looked really good, even if it was against a bad team.
--The Colts looked very rusty.
--Marcus Stroud and Kawika Mitchell played a heck of a game for the Bills and look like good pickups.

I agree with a lot of those observations... but with the glaring exception of one

Wes Welker and Randy Moss are not bad targets, even for a second string to throw to shouldn't be that shabby of targets.
Lawrence Maroney can punch it in regardless.
The Patriots have always been praised for being well-rounded.

Also, apparently there's buzzings that they may pick up Chris Simms now.

I don't think they will be the same force they've been these past 6 years, but at the same time, I still think they will take the AFC East... with maybe some trouble with Buffalo contending.

Needless to say, disappointing effort by the Colts... but hey... at least I'm not a Lions fan (even though I picked them :nooooo )

Quarterback Chris Simms flew in to meet with the Patriots, but they told him things had changed and they did not need him, so he left without working out for them, as did Tim Rattay, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

With having to fly out for four West coast games this year - and the loss of Brady - the Pats are in for a world of hurt.
Even though their schedule is the easiest in the league this year.
But, if they do make a run at anything - the final game of the year VS the Bills should be a good one.

It's ironic that this past week was the first time since the 2005 season opener that Brady wasn't on the pre-game injury report (the league had to change the format for the report in part due to the Pats making a mockery of it) .. and then he proceeds to get hurt for real and he's 'out' for the year..

With Brady out, the Pats will have to do some serious cheating this year if they want to have another undefeated regular season! :lol:

Well, Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams are great targets and Kitna is a better QB than Cassell but look what happened to the Lions on Sunday. The Pats need more than a few great wide receivers and a decent runner to win the Super Bowl.

The Pats are toast. They are not gonna seriously contend for the Super Bowl. Players like Bruschi are a year older, they lost Samuel and Wilson if I'm not mistaken. The Pats were so desperate that they gave John Lynch a chance, and he couldn't even cut it. The Pats might make the playoffs but they don't stand a chance with Simms or Cassell (sp?) or whomever. I heard that the Pats were looking at bringing in Tim Rattay. :lol: The guy couldn't cut it in San Fran and let's not act like the 49'ers have had great quarterbacks in their system recently. If you can't play for the 49'ers at quarterback, then you're pretty bad. Bonner, I'm not sure if you noticed what the Pats looked like without Brady but I'll refresh your memory-- THEY BARELY BEAT THE CHIEFS!!! And they were at home no less.

That was a gutsy win for them. JT O'Sullivan showed a lot of poise late in the game, marching them down into field goal range twice in the last few minutes of regulation, and once more in OT after Nedney blew the game winning kick as time expired. First Niners' QB to throw for 300+ yards in a game in 4 years.

I half expect the best game this week to be the Arizona / Washington game.

And the Bills win one by the skin of their teeth, against the lowly Raiders! :jump :jump It's really nothing to be excited about, but a win is a win, I guess. Today proved that the Bills are still a work in progress and are quite a long way from contending for a Super Bowl.
