Pencil part was awesome. Whole movie lived up to very lofty expectations can't wait to hit the IMAX to see it later this week
Saw it this afternoon at the IMAX. Amazing! Christopher Nolan has elevated the comic book movie to another level with this film. Ledger's performance was astonishing. It would be a crime if he wasn't nominated for an Oscar. The rest of the cast was terrific as well.

Going to see it again tonight, hopefully I can better digest the film and it's subtleties with out all the excitement of opening night and a crowded theatre distracting me.

I found that, too. It was such a dark portrayal that any humour within it only accentuates the horrific nature of this Joker. Its too bad Ledger's performance is being shadowed by his death. I would have liked to have watched the film without thinking of the actor, only seeing the role.

I enjoyed the film regardless. I found it much better than the first. I think it was more focussed on the characters and less on the plot, which simplifies it and makes it more accessible.

No way Ledger does not get nominated for that performance especially with all the hype surrounding it being his final performance. Eckhart's terrific perfomance getting completely overshadowed though. He should also get some recognition
wow..Christian Bale just got arrested for allegedly assaulting him family

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
LONDON _ Batman star Christian Bale was arrested Tuesday over allegations of assault, British media reported.
British media had reported that Bale's mother and sister complained they were assaulted by the 34-year-old actor at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of his latest film, ``The Dark Knight.''
The women made the allegation at a local police station in southern England on Monday, Britain's Press Association news agency said. It later said Bale had been arrested, citing ``police sources.''
Asked whether Bale was in custody, a police spokesman did not refer to him by name but said: ``A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault.''
The spokesman spoke anonymously in line with force policy and refused to go into more detail. British police do not name suspects before they are formally charged.
U.S.-based representatives for Bale didn't immediately return messages seeking comment. Repeated phone calls to Bale's London representative went unanswered.
The Sun newspaper said police didn't question the actor Monday because they didn't want to interfere with the premiere of the movie.
Wales-born Bale first made a splash as the child star of Steven Spielberg's ``Empire of the Sun'' in 1987. His screen credits also include ``American Psycho,'' ``The Machinist'' and ``Batman Begins.''
In ``The Dark Knight,'' Bale reprises the role of wealthy playboy Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting alter-ego Batman, a brooding vigilante superhero still scarred by the murder of his parents.
The film, which stars the late Heath Ledger as Batman's nemesis The Joker, took in a record $158.4 million at the box office in its opening weekend in the U.S. last week.

Glad Tidings for Steven Page....

Might be good to see, but what Nolan did that made Batman so epic was he perfectly portrayed the dark side of Batman and of Gotham........can't really do that with Superman, well at least I don't think you can.

Either way, it will be interesting to see what he can do with it, but I don't think it is going to hold a candle to what he did with Batman.
I was just more interested to hear about the third installment of Batman...Superman is just bonus. I think that he might just be the right guy to give the Superman franchise the kick in the balls of steel that it needs (although I did like Superman Returns).
