On Monday May 5 at 9 AM EST Tomwaits.com will show higlights from a press conference at which Tom Waits will announce his new site and a summer tour Glitter and Doom.

That's very promising news, especially with a name like "Glitter and Doom". I know there are a handful of Waits fns on the board and I would urge every one of you to try to see him in concert. He's quite the entertainer, as you can see from the handful of reviews in the thread about last summer's mini-tour. I'd post the link, but the search feature isn't cooperating right now.

As I've said before, I'd step over my own mother to see this guy live, but unfortunately he never performs anywhere near Calgary. If by some miracle he ends up playing Vancouver or Seattle, then I could definitely make the trip, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I wonder if this means a new album is in the works?

Waits claims in the press conference that the dates are carefully caluculated using a acornym and constellations. The end result is "PEHDTSCKJMBA", pronouced Peds-kah-jum-ba". Apparentally, it means "People envy happiness, dogs, though, sense courage, knowing jubilation means better ass-etts". There's even a chart to prove it. I won't consider myself "lucky" until tickets are successfully purchased. This Columbus date is the only one in the midwest region....Knoxville is the next nearest. There are many many large cities in the region for which this will be the nearest date, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Plus, I noticed that the tix are $82.50, and that's before Ticketbastard gets their vig. They'll be $100 a pop. Yikes.

Maybe he'll add some western dates and include Seattle...or Portland :? I guess those are the only real possibilities for someone in Calgary, huh? Unless he ventures north of the border and hits Vancouver maybe...for some reason I doubt he'll do that....
