okay that might be overstating it, but this is interesting news:

Edwin of former I Mother Earth, Mike Turner formerly of OLP and Jeff Burrows of The Tea Party are forming a band..

A quote: "It could just be one of those cool moments in Canadian rock history, or it could explode... you never know."

Im going to go with explode, its seems like an odd mix. There's some good talent in the group, Burrows is a heavy hitter I like his drumming and Turner is a good guitarist. But Im not a big fan of Edwin, moreso his solo work, it was crap actually. Ive always said Bryan Byrne was way better than Edwin in IME, but thats just my opinion. Not knocking the Edwin IME albums they were awesome but as a singer and frontman there's no comparison, and TQSMD was their best album by far at the least it should be interesting to hear what they come up with. Still wishing IME and TTP would get back together and on that note Jeff Martin said his new album scheduled for this summer is going to be "rocking"...Im looking forward to that.

I disagree. I think that IME is a 3/10 band after Edwin left, and Edwin is a 3/10 solo artist after he left, but they're an 8/10 when they were together. Definitely a band that is more than the sum of it's parts.

That being said, I'm not usually a fan of supergroups. They almost never work.
IME sucked without Edwin..I saw them live, and that lead singer was a joke.

Not sure what you mean exactely by the 3/10 comment, but since Edwin had almost nothing to do with the actual music the band produced, Jag wrote almost all the music and Chris wrote almost all the lyrics for the songs Im not sure what he did that made them so much better? If you like Edwin better as a singer, fair enough, but he cant touch Byrne as a frontman and songwriter imo. And Ive seen them live quite a few times with both singers and Byrne was by far the better of the two but credit to Edwin he was good live as well.

To each his own I guess, we dont all see and hear things in the same way, so fair enough, Im not going to argue over opinions.

I respect your view (even though your wrong) Tongue
I absolutely loved I Mother Earth when Edwin was their frontman, but didn't care for the Bryan Byrne-IME.
Scenery & Fish is one of my alltime favorite albums.
Thanks for the article LizardKing - This is pretty cool news.
I am a huge fan of Edwin - and yes his solo stuff.
i like one of the quotes in the article "raine and jeff became hypersensitive pussies".
Interesting, I'd like to hear what comes out of this.
one of our better looking, in the know hipbasers brought this up a couple of months ago...i kid, i kid

agreed...I was a big fan of the Edwin IME days.
Edwin is such a gigantic douchebag that I can barely listen to older IME albums anymore. I once saw him open for the Tea Party, and his pompous Ricky Martin stylings nearly got him booed off the stage. Dude's idea of banter is "This next song is about living life your own way and being successful, but none of you have any idea about that". Ass.

Mike Turner never impressed me much either - I think it's a coincidence that OLP took a dive for the shitter once he left. Burrows always seemed like a decent guy, though. Wonder what Chatwood's up to these days?
burrows is a super cool dude. we got to hang with him after a tea party show here..long story short...we walked(stumbled) off their tour bus at 4am
That "Alive" song from solo Edwin was one of the most nauseating songs in the history of mankind.
