Match-up #23 - Flamenco Vs. Greasy Jungle
Listen to the two songs in the match-up Back to Back, and consider the lyrics of the song. Feel free to post an unbiased analysis of both songs in this thread, but please refrain from cheerleading or making predictions for your favourites.
I liked Greasy Jungle when I first started getting into the hip but I've moved on. Flamenco it is.
Really easy choice for me.

Just a question..is Get Back Again eligible for this?? or any other non album tracks?
"Maybe a prostitute could teach you how to take a compliment"
What a set of lyrics!

And Sean, when is that video from?

Their only show in 2001:

2001-10-21 - Toronto, Ontario - ACC
From a benefit called "Music Without Borders"

(This also explains the massive crowd reaction when Gord sings... "Maybe I'll go to New York...")
I will never forget the crowd reaction on "Maybe I'll go to New York" during Music Without Borders at the ACC

Edit: I started typing this reply and when I posted it, Sean's response was there.

I'm really enjoying the youtube posts lately, but it's all about equality. That second verse gets my foot tapping every time.

walk like a matador, dont be chicken-shit

i just broke the tie 8)
I like both songs, but like "Greasy Jungle" just a bit more.
This tournament reminds me of why the Hip are my absolute favourite band of all time.. every match up almost, the one I pick I could easily vote as the winner of the entire tournament.. the later rounds are going to be extremely difficult to pick
Metropolis noir.
Flamenco is another personal fave...loved it when Kate Fenner sang backup for it in 2000...
^ I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'd have LOVED to have been at those shows with Kate Fenner guesting. They sound amazing!

Having said that, Greasy Jungle gets my vote - A no brainer for me. Amazing imagery and mood in that tune.

From Shane's post on the relegation round (which I think is fair):
*Only select songs that have been officially released on a Tragically Hip CD. No Demos/Rarities will be considered.
