I was wondering if someone could help me refresh my memory. I think I remember seeing the Derek Trucks band open for the Hip a few years ago. Can someone verify that this is ture ? Thanks
Fall of 98. DTB opened a whole bunch of shows for the hip. Easily one of the best opening acts I've seen ever. Sick, sick drummer.

what about the guitarist?
some of the meanest slide guitar i've ever heard
and he doesnt use a pick

derek plays with warren haynes in the Allman Brothers Band..
they had to cancel a bunch of dates because Gregg is recovering from Hep C

See DTB, Gov't Mule or ABB if they come around..
great bands

I was just goin' to say that!
They're going to be playing the Toronto Jazz Festival again this summer...worth the price of admission.
...definately concur. Saw them open for the 98 Toledo Zoo show, and have been a fan since. If it wasn't for bad timing, I would have gone to see them on their stop in Paris last Fall...

...lots of boots available...

Bit of a strange paring but cool none the less. DTB is a great group of musicians
I thought TDTB were of similar music genre to Phish and the Greatful Dead? Musically very talented and jam band like. Seems a suiting opening act for the Hip.

But if I remember right, that's been pursued with the band to no avail. Anyway, thanks for highlighting the link to DTB. I'll check them out.
For The Hip, we've got the tracker, and http://hipfans.com/shows/ (U: hipfans P: archive), and http://thehundredthmeridian.com/ftp.html

The DBTs are another band I keep meaning to check out... off to archive I go!

I hear you, Chris. Not trying to slight the work you and all the tapers have done at all. I just enjoy the streaming shows you can click on at archive.org -- and think it could get the live Hip experience out there to more people if their shows were on there.

I didn't take it as a slight against me/tapers at all.

I have a plan for streaming shows, but need some time and someone with some web design skills to make it happen. I have the server and software, etc just need to implement it.
I've Derek Trucks play with The Allman Brothers a few times ... Derek Trucks is young, apparently he started playing with The Allman Brothers at like 15 or some shit... guy is fucking talented... Last year at 10k lakes, I saw DTB play, great band, the guy just rips up the slide...
I think he played the night after The Hip did... God, He must have been very young when he opened for The Hip in 98... The hip could use so more quality opening acts like that ...

Oh and Chris, I hope you can get The Hip on archive.org... If i could help u out with that I would, I just know fuck all about computers (all im good for is downloading torrents)... Anyway
It would get there music out to a huge audience, which would be great...
there is a DTB concert playing on hdnet on bell today
