This matchup should be interesting..an old trusty, played to death on the radio song versus a song just as old but overlooked.....
2 juggernauts head to head. Should be interesting either way.
boourns to NOIS
I am always kind of surprised by peoples hatred to NOIS. Yes I fully agree that its overplayed and would be happy if I never heard it again in concert, but..........

The whole concept of this voting, you should be listening to both songs as if you never heard them before.............if truly judged this way, NOIS wins hands down and should be in the final two (or final 4)...but thats just my humble opinion.

The Hip would not be the Hip without ever recording NOIS, it is their "Satisfaction"
I'd like to point out that when listening to Looking for a Place to Happen, it makes a huge difference whether you listen to the Yer Favourites version or the Fully Completely version.

the issue i have with listening to songs like you've never heard them before is that some of the most rewarding songs take a long time to get into. Such is the case with Looking For A Place to Happen, i've found

That's asking for the impossible, at least for me. All of the Hips' songs are so burned into my conscious and subconscious, that a subjective listen is impossible.

Just to clear this up, I still love the song, and you're right it is the reason I was turned on the Hip in the first place. I still remember perfectly well exactly where I was and how I felt after watching the video for NOIS for the very first time. I got shivers down my spine and instantly craved to hear more and more from this band. That being said, the song has lost all charm for me and almost seems like an obligatory chore for the band these days.
You mean "objective", don't you?
