Today is “Earth Hour” day (supported by google). The idea is to turn off your lights from 8PM to 9PM local time, so as to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort.

Via Little Green Footballs… Google Europe has gone black. They call it “Earth Hour.” The intention of the project is to “raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called Earth Hour.” That’s why Google UK has “turned the lights out.”

Is anyone here going to kill the lights tonight?

Yup.

I'm even going to miss an hour of the Habs game to do it. Which is fine: Mrs. Skippy says they play better when I don't watch.

lol, i won't be home then i don't thinkl...does that count?

Like Metallica says - hit the lights ... the lights .. the lights

Sure am! Students from Wilfrid Laurier University are going to be having a candle light gathering on our Alumni Field as well

well, that was alright, nice excuse to use the fireplace.

That was okay. I was working on a paper, so the light from the computer was hurting my eyes towards the end of the hour!

Cool idea. It wasn't promoted very well though. I didn't hear about it until yesterday morning. And I was at the Flames game anyway.

I read an article in the Calgary Herald saying that energy consumption went up from last week, despite Earth Hour. Likely because of the colder weather.

Earth Hour wouldn't do anything to save energy.. just meant as an awareness campaign more than anything
