NOFX do a pretty cool cover of this tune :rambo:
first song that comes to mind for me is t-rex : bang a gong get it on
although im sure if it's a one hit wonder or not
Ahh I forget to mention Verve Pipe too, they were one of my favortite bands for a while. Villians was a pretty good album, but i liked their next album, the self titled Verve Pipe, better.
Villians & Headlines are two of my favorite songs of theirs.
This could be a long list as when I was young my parents would get me for my birthday or Christmas, Ktel's hits on LP and there are many from my youth that seem to have charm like "Disco Duck" by Rick Dees or "Bigfoot" by Bro Smith.
Getting older, One that is stuck in my head was "In to the Night" by Benny Mardonez (sp?). I think this was every prom them in the 80's. Not one of my favorites but this one hit will always have other memories tied to it.
In early College, it was "Wild Thing" by Tone Loc, "little taller" by Too Short that were always played at parties, Later it was the Spin Docs and "Touch of Grey" by the Dead played during Happy Hour or the Dime progression nites
Getting a bit older, Bands that come to mind are The Toadies, Tonic, The Flys, Lit, Duncan Sheik. These remind me of my years in StL seeing a cover band play the previously mentioned hits.
Finally, Novelty songs that may or may not have been "hits" that seem to spurn memories of a past era are "Rump Shaker" Wrexx-n-efexx, "Camel Toe" Fanny Pack, "Scooby Snacks" Fun loving Criminals and finally "Informer" Snow
I liked The Flys song "got you where i want you", and was always going to pick up the album but never did get around to it.
Later it was the Spin Docs and "Touch of Grey" by the Dead played during Happy Hour or the Dime progression nites
I don't know if the Dead can really qualify as one-hit wonders ... but I do remember seeing the video for "Touch of Grey" when I was in high school and going out to buy my first Grateful Dead album.
Jerry's solo on this is a great one ... but they cut it out of the video.

You're right!! Great song and absolutely no follow up. I never think of this when I think of one hit wonders but it has now jumped to the top of my list!!

Flogging Molly are one hit wonders? You need a hit before you can qualify for this thread. Don't get me wrong, I love Flogging Molly. They were the house band at a bar in L.A.. I walked out of there more then once stinking of Guinness and bleeding. Good Times.
Fast way were BIG in Buffalo when I was a Kid. Classisc! Dave King, the lead singer of bolt bands, says he got screwed out of all his pay with that band. Bummer.
sorry that i consider them one hit wonders. I will refrain from adding to this thread after this post sorry Phil.
