With the Current Writers strike going on it is a great time to catch up on TV shows on DVD that you may have not known about or never bothered to watch.
A friend of my wife lent us Firefly. What a fantastic show that is, it is really to bad that no one watched it when it was on, a great Sci Fi western.
Also starting to watch the first season of Dexter. Great stuff as well.
Anyone else have any suggestions???

I was told "How I Met Your Mother" is really funny. I've never seen a single episode, but was told I should pick up the first season on DVD

I've watched some episodes of that show, It can be pretty funny. Not sure if it is worth purchasing. Not sure if any show is worth purchasing really, well maybe Arrested Development. It is great that you can rent most shows at your local video store.

The Office is a good one.
Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, two series' by Judd Apatow are phenomenal.. and both shows were only one season. The British version of the Office is great, and coming in February I think, season one of Third Watch is coming to DVD. Its about time, that is one of the best shows of all time.

For DVD purposes, that being the beauty and addictiveness of a self-contained season, my recommendations are:
1. Season 1 of Veronica Mars (season 2 slides in just below)
2. Season 1 of Friday Night Lights
3. Season 1 of 30 Rock
some may enjoy Brotherhood, its on Movie Central. I seen a few episodes and its good. Irish mafia/political dealio.Decent cast, set in Providence RI, Jason Isaacs plays a great Badass....
