I was bored yesterday and thought i'd watch the 3 game final and was reading the case and realized that tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of the start of the 3 game finals. That was some of the best hockey I've ever seen played, and not only by Canada but the Russians too.I'd forgotten too that all the games ended 6-5,kinda cool. I'd bet everyone on this board was watching those games.
not me, i was only 2, but from what ive seen and heard, your right, a great series of hockey!
it was a fantastic series and I will never forget watching the final game at a bar (Boo) at the University of Guelph we were all down after the 3-0 start but the energy kept building the rest of the game and what a moment (thought the floor was going to give way) when Lemieux pulled the trigger…20 years ago you say holy s__t...
That was incredible hockey... has it really been 20 years since that series? Unbelievable. That means I was 14(!) when I watched it. I was watching all the games with my dad and I can remember so clearly just how tense and high quality the hockey was. What I remember maybe a little more was listening to my dad talk about the '72 Summit Series and how the country literally stopped to watch Game 8, about all the political stuff swirling around the series... I marvelled at how such things could be possible, it seemed more myth and legend than reality. I guess even though I was a teen at that time I was still pretty naive about some things.
I've gotta get my hands on a DVD copy of these games if they are out there... that would be a sweet trip back in time for me.

I was 14 too and it kinda hard to grasp thats it been 20 years too. Its strange how watching an old hockey game like this can really transport you back, unlike say an old sitcom or something. But ya I remember our house was kinda where the family/extended family/friends of mine gathered for various function like Xmas, thanksgiving and didn't really expect everyone over for that for all 3 games. kinda our generations Summit series. and ya the DVD is great to own. Its called Blade Wars.
Wasn't that the one played at Copps in Hamilton? If only it was in 2007 and not 1987 then I wouldn't have been 3 years old and would have gone.
