A couple points about "Leave".
#1. Great to hear a live version. Cool song. Defenently one of the IVL songs that have been neglected live...along with Darkest One, Throwing Glass and Beautiful Thing (my personal fave).
#2. IMO I believe Leave is not played because it's at the very bottom of Downies singing range. It's not musically to difficult, so It's got to be GD who put the end to this song live.
No idea why "Heart" was abandoned so early on. Sounds decent enough...

If I remember right, "Leave" was played at the "album premiere" shows in Buffalo, Detroit and Toronto (and wasn't there a 4th premiere show on a boat cruise or something with IVL??) and then it was gone. Bummer man.

If I am not mistaken, that was the second time The Hip played on a boat.
Leave was not played on the ferry and the only "show" it was ever played at was the first Irving Plaza gig from that year.

And about Leave, I was looking for a quality recording of it a while ago but all I found was a recording from a sound check and the quality wasnt even listenable, so if anyone has a quality copy of it live I would surely love to get my hands on it.

I recall the last Edge Fest 102.1 The Edge held at Molson Park, Barrie Ontario. It was long before IBE came out and The Hip Played Heart of the Melt about halfway through the show. Nobody knew quite what to do when they finished, never hearing it before, and with the quick, sudden ending. There was a semi approval round of applause for the song and you could tell that night The Hip were testing the waters for their next album. I cant remember what other songs they tested that night for (IBE) , but that one stuck with me from the first time I heard it. When IBE came out , it was one of my favorites, and still is .

The Hip played 2 new songs this night - Ballroom(You're Everywhere) and Josephine.

Ha, I obviously saw the thread in the download section before this one, so the points I made there about Leave apply here too... and I agree with so many of you who say they should play it live more too, it is an awesome tune!
Same with Heart of the Melt I'd like to hear them drop that in when it's time in one of their setlists for a head-bangin' tune!
