I was wondering if anyone caught the premiere, since there seems to be some avid HBO viewers around here.

It sounded pretty run-of-the-mill from the descriptions I was hearing, but you've got to give David Milch a little more credit than that, and it didn't dissapoint. Without giving any spoilers: it looks to be another unique show from HBO. The first episode posed enough questions to perpetuate a season, I think. Great dialogue, good acting from what I've seen, and an interesting plot that I predict will make some very unexpected turns.

What did everybody else think?
I recorded it but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Comments in the blogosphere seem to be favourable...
I was just confused enough to watch again next week. It was interesting.
i hate it just on the fact there's no more Deadwood Tongue
I agree it was confusing enough to watch another week or as companion to Entourage when it comes back. I had a hard time believing Rebecca De Mornay was playing a Grandmother.
I started watching this past week and have seen the first two episodes -- I am fully intrigued. I hope this one sticks around. I tried to get my wife to watch the first episode, but she gave up about 20 minutes in, just when it was about to get interesting.

Love that Johnny Monad: "There are some things I know and some things I don't" or "I don't know Butchie, instead"

Favorite John quote: "I gotta take a horrendous dump." All in the delivery.
"I'm gonna roll me a fucking fat one."
Am I the only one that put up with this show all season?
I actually liked it although I did not have a clue what was going on - AT ALL. It was liked being stoned watching TV without having to inhale.
I loved it all season, but the the finale was this week and - damn - what a letdown. You mean to tell me the whole damn season added up to THAT?
And, other people must have been put off by the lack of episode finality because I just read that it was not renewed by HBO.
I tried....gave it about four episodes.......and gave up.
i enjoyed it but was a little confused as to the whole point of the show and if it is not coming back then someone needs to explain the premise

it reminded me of twin peaks a little

It not being renewed doesn't surprise me, but I was incredibly surprised that they even made it. It seems like it would appeal to such a small group. However, I deeply enjoyed it, even the finale. It was brilliantly written, and the story was 100% original, which is hard to get these days.

I loved the feeling after watching an episode, that you understood what was going on somehow, but just couldn't logically put the peices together. I found the finale had the emotional climax we needed as viewers, also, even if it posed somemore interesting questions.

I'm not going to try and explain the show, but for some great insight check out the Inside the Episode feature at HBO. Might answer the questions you have, but without spoiling the discovery for you.
i'm still pissed we didn't get a 4th season of Deadwood, but if this does get cancelled, perhaps the chances of a Deadwood movie coming to light are better

Deadwood kicked the pants off JFC, so hopefully this will clear up Milch for those fabled movies.
