Maybe it's just wishful thinking but does anyone know if The Hip are the 'Serious Special Guests' at NXNE?

The "yer" part especially says hip to me.
I don't know how you could call the Hip "roots rock," though.
Maybe Blue Rodeo, but not The Hip...

This is the schedule from the Horseshoe site. And it is totally different.

I got my credentials for NXNE today. There are a lot of good acts on Thursday, but this Lineup at Lee's, without the special guest is too tough to pass on
EDIT: Just reading this week's issue of Now, with Blue Rodeo confirmed as the 3 am set at Lee's. 1 am is still a special guest

Did anybody go to this? Who was the special guest?
Blue Rodeo was on at 3. Ron Sexsmith played at 1.
I left before Blue Rodeo (I was incredibly tired and out of beer money), but got to meet Ron MacLean at Lee's after Sexsmith's set. Ron loves the rock and roll (and the Ducks -- was really happy they won the cup). I mean, I'm sure Maclean wanted to talk hockey the night after the season ended, but everyone else was doing it, so why shouldn't I.
On the whole though, this was the best NXNE I've been apart of. If you haven't seen White Cowbell Oklahoma, you owe it to yourself to have your life changed.
Too bad a secret Hip show didn't pan out. Oh well, there's always next year.
