It was Ten years ago, this May 11, that the band performed an incredible show at the Tivoli in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Broach pointed this out to me tonight so I thought we should all celebrate this wonderful show.

1997.05.11 is always the most played concert in my collection. It will forever be known (to me) as the "Chambermaid" show. Gord reference's chambermaids almost before every song, and for some reason I love it more every time i hear it.

"This is a song about Eva Paron's grandmother, apparently shes a chambermaid in Utrecht."

"This is a song about me and a very young chambermaid, when we were very little. We were both nine years old, and we'd just go up in this tree and just talk"

"Here's a song for the Mutton Birds, the mutton birds of New Zealand"

1: Gift Shop
2: Fully Completely
3: Grace, Too
4: Springtime In Vienna
5: The Luxury
6: Ahead By A Century
7: Butts Wigglin
8: Locked In The Trunk Of A Car
9: Vapour Trails
10: Daredevil
11: Flamenco
12: Blow At High Dough
13: Membership
14: New Orleans Is Sinking
15: Put It Off
16: Fire In The Hole
17: Let's Stay Engaged
18: Save The Planet
19: Little Bones

So everyone share there love for this show. If you have never heard this show I would recommend, if only for one of my favourite versions of Hiccups!!

I agree completely. It's definitely the show I've listened to the most, and I too have always called it the "Chambermaid show". Would love to know who or what provoked all the chambermaid references that night. Gord was in rare form.

Thanks for the reminder. :thumb:
listening now
this show probably has the best audio of any fan recording

"the beautiful lull....the dangerous tug, we get to feel small....but not at a place at all"

good luck to those getting tickets today for the Bala shows!
Can someone write down which songs were introduced with which lines? I keep track of this stuff.

Thanks.

I should learn to torrent stuff so I can listen myself.
And the Muttonbirds were amazing on that tour too.
Split up far too early...

They did indeed split up too early.

So instead of just listening to the Hip's show today, it seemed appropriate to start off by listening to their first 2 cd's, The Mutton Birds and Salty. Especially since Gord sings a bit of Anchor Me at the end of Locked.
If i'm not mistaken, doesn't Vapour Trails have the original lyrics? I actually prefer the original ones and sing those instead of the album ones when I listen to the song.
