Wow, all this canceling has me disenchanted. If the White Stripes can Play Yellowknife I think The Hip can drive 4 hours down the road and play Halifax.... But 4 months before the show? They must have bigger fish to fry. Maybe the almighty US Dollar is call for another tour? Who knows anymore...

I'm sure..well..I hope there's a good reason...

Two friends just called me (seperately)...
saying that they just played Luv(sic) on 98.9 Big John FM... and then the DJ said that it was in an effort to cheer up Sean Bonner.
It didn't work.

I will now officially say for the first time: the east coast has gotten a massive shaft.
The Hip played on PEI last summer for frig sakes! In 2004, they played in Saint John, Halifax, and Sydney. They've played the east coast. They played the Salmon Festival show a few years ago.

Three years ago, they did play three shows. Unfortunatly, I wasn't that into them then, which is my own fault.
Charlottetown did kick ass, but I mean... I just got so pumped for three shows, and its just sinking in right now that the maritime dates have been massacred. I just don't know how to defend the actions of this band that means so much more to me than anything I can describe in words.
I know it sounds so corny and immature... and maybe it is... but well, i dunno.

I know, I know. I didn't get tickets so I'm not overly bummed. If I had purchased tickets, I'd be as pissed as you.

Is the Fredricton date still a go?
05-07-2007, 07:37 PM
There must be something else going on besides just cancelling two shows. It doesn't make sense economically to go to Fredericton and Nfld. without making a couple of other stops - assuming Fred. is still going ahead.
I agree with the comment that an outdoor show may be the new plan. Magnetic Hill in Moncton (they played with the Stones there) or Citadel Hill in Halifax with all the university folks arriving in town. I know the City of Moncton has been working hard to get more large concerts at the Magnetic Hill site.
And it could be something as simple as the promoter screwed up and the band had nothing to do with it. Don't jump ship yet...although I'd be pretty pissed if I was living out there right now.

It's still bullshit. I can't see one big concert happening. Wouldn't even less people go to that than all the other shows combined? A lot of people that go see the hip probably aren't the same people who would travel to see the hip. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't know. That's IF there is something else planned.
For fuck's sake, I had good seats. I won't be buying shitty seats in some other city.

there is only 1 show scheduled for moncton this year and that is a country show on labor day weekend.
this is just typical of the shitty end of the stick that we maritimers always get. the rest of the country gets multiple shows including areas, clubs and surprise gigs. we get dick all.
fuck this pisses me off. if the fredericton show gets canceled, i just may have to revoke my membership to the hip fanbase.

This is quite a blow. I feel for you guys. I can't remember what thread it was on, but didn't I see Mav post something about a show announcement this week, that would be a little different - different in a good way. This may tie into this somehow.

He posted in the Toronto Area Shows thread, too expect an unexpected show announcment this week. So hopefully the Fort McMurray show isnt the announcement.
Or maybe thats why it was unexpected, no one would expect a show up there.

I just called the Metro Centre box office and they said the Halifax show was still on. Did anyone else call and confirm this as well?
