I just thought I'd introduce myself since I'm new to this forum.

I came here in search of a new discussion group since apparently the Henhouse is history, which is a bummer. I was on the henhouse since January of 1998, and it was the only discussion group I've ever been actively involved in. Made lots of friends there - I hope they all wind up over here, because this looks like a great forum.

Anyway, I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, where the hip fan-per-square mile ratio is .00000001:1. The Hip have played in this state exactly three times, and only once have they headlined a public show. They opened for Page and Plant here in fall '95 and had a private party for the Canadian Olympic team during the 2002 Games which I was fortunate enough to attend (on the campus of my university, no less!)

Oddly enough, GD is playing here in SLC next month. Tix are only 15 bucks, and the venue holds 250 max. It should be a nice inimate evening. Anyone coming from out of town has a place to crash. I always wanted to say that at the henhouse, but the whole time I was there, TTH never came here (except for the olympic show which was invite only).

anyhow, I love the Hip and have around 75 shows. I don't really trade because I'm a bit too busy but I'm glad to get involved here at the hipbase. I also love DMB (seeing them here in 4 days!) and Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds. I've been a big Rush/Floyd guy my whole life, and I am also way into Tool, among many other bands. I look forward to Gord's show here in SLC and maybe having a chance to chat with him and his bandmates.

hey brian.

a friend of mine from the DMB community lives in SLC.

welcome.
hey, that's really cool! Does he happen to be a taper? I'm scouring the internet to see if anyone will be taping the show next week. I'm sure someone will, but its more likely to get circulated if the taper is involved in the online scene. Thanks!

p.s. I guess this post is based on the assumption that your friend is going to the DMB show here in Utah this coming tuesday.
Hey brian,

good to see you made it over here to the hipbase. I was at the henhouse too but mostly in the form of a lurker. I enjoyed reading a lot of your posts over there so it's good to see a few familer names showing up here at the hipbase.

Enjoy the show in Salt Lake. Unfortunately there are no dates for Calgary yet so it's not looking good for me seeing him this year.

sorry. i missed this before.

no. he is not a taper. but i am assure you, the show WILL be taped. every single show gets taped now.

www.antsmarching.org hosts around 540 shows for download. all free.

i will keep an eye out for the SLC show and let you know when it makes it way into the community. the rule is to wait 2 weeks after the show before requesting it. however, lately shows have been released within a couple days of the show.

like i said, i will keep an eye out for it.
