I'm boycotting this list because The Wall isn't higher than 25, and Animals isn't up there with DSOTM. I was way into The Floyd before I met The Hip. I've got most of their discography, but an allowance only went so far when I was 14-15, and reffing hockey games paid for lunches and movies.

It pioneered so many things that have become staples for albums ever since. I believe it was the first time lyrics were printed with an album. Many consider it to be the first concept album. The album art is fantastic. All that stuff aside though, it is simply fantastic just on it's music alone. I think it is Lennon and Mccartney working together at their finest.
That said though, it isn't my favorite Beatles. I have always had a soft spot for Help.

It's actually kinda funny you would say that. Apparently it was the first time they actually didn't work together that closely. Paul came up with the concept and wrote most of the tracks himself, and then John added bits here and there during the recording process.

Perhaps it's that they compliment each other so well on that album.Wether it's songs that are obviously Mccartney (fixing a hole) or Lennon (lucy in the sky) etc, or the ones that they work on together so wonderfully (getting better, day in the life) they album just works so well as they have laid the songs out. Let's also not forget Ringo's crowning achievemnt as a singing Beatle.
lennon was often quoted as saying it was definately not a concept album, but if it helped Paul sleep at night...so be it..to me, Rubber Soul is a much more important album than SGT. Pepper..that's where they really started to change...
