I thought you were going to say that "the mailman" let you out.

Unless that vid has been cut so it's all out of sequence, the beating happens after she pushes him towards the door, etc. Bad mistake -- push the drunk and you provoke him. That's what the cops are for.

Nobody should feel obliged to get beat up for a shitty, low-paying bartender gig.

It's probably been editted. Regardless though, who knows just what was said by him to make her feel the need to push him. It's easy to watch a little snippit and comment on how dumb she was for doing what she did but in the heat of the moment emotions run high and people often don't think rationally. At any rate this is a clear case of someone with violent tendancies who should be dealt some sort of justice.

I didn't call anyone dumb. I said it was a mistake. What he may or may not have said doesn't change that. It's not about who was in the right.

I'm simply observing that this is how we become authors of our own misfortunes. People get hurt on the job in situations like this by forgetting that when it comes right down to it, no one can criticize you for stepping out of the way and calling the cops.

Many years ago I got decked by a guy who was trying to pull off a credit card fraud. I refused to oblige him, he swore at me, I went to show him the door, he decked me. Subsequent experience has taught me that all you really need to do is pick up the phone and say "Let's talk to the cops about it," and people back off right quick.
Except in this case, they were already there... Confusedcratch:

Well, the drunk, off-duty one was.

Try calling the cops and telling them there's a guy in your work place who's drunk and threatening. I don't think they'll ask if he's a cop before responding. Smile

explain the cooker reference please
first let me say that was ridiculous and completely uncalled for
but being a bartender on the weekends I would never dream of instigating someone like she did especially in the drunken state he was in
The blows looked hard but she kept kicking and fighting him off. Maybe he was so drunk that he wasn't connecting. They said she only had some brusies.

The sentiment I got from your post was that you were absolving this guy from his actions and blaming her because she provoked it. She didn't cause this incident, he did and he should pay the price.

Do you have a special bullshit-inducing filter built into the language centres of your brain?

I'm not absolving him at all. He's responsible for what he did, and he's going to get charged with assault and (one hopes) punished appropriately.

I just pointed out that if you work in a job like that, you have to remember that it's just a job. Your employer isn't willing to get punched in the head for your money; don't be willing to get punched in the head for his.

Seriously, if you worked in a warehouse, and electrical cabling had come loose from the ceiling and you had a live, seven-zillion-volt cable lying in a puddle of water in aisle 3, would you go down aisle 3 to pick an order?

No? Then why would you shove a drunk if you were working as a bartender?
I'm thinking she was pushing him because he was behind the bar itself and she wanted him out from there. Yes it looks like anyone could walk behind there but anyone who goes to a bar knows not to go behing the imaginary end othe bar line.
Either way you don't fuck w/the drunk. it goes nowhere.
But i like the way the "news" superimposed it so you get the "ultimate" view of the beating. Yet who, look out for the nipple slip or a "shit" slips out. That's what I miss about not getting the CBC in Rochester. Arguments are played they way they were recorded, swearing n all. (at least they used to).

LOL................... I am going to have a t-shirt made up with that on the front! :thumb:

I would suggest that perhaps her adreniline was pumping pretty high and in the heat of the moment she didn't have the foresight to stop, take a breather, and then calmly proceed to phone the cops. Rather she acted impulsively or instinctively and pushed him because she felt threatened. Obviously the wrong choice.
This totally sickens me. We can only hope the cop is repeatedly "enjoyed" by his fellow inmates the entire time he rots in there. The cop looks to be well over 250lbs and 6 feet tall compared to his victim (very tiny woman)that he throws around like a ragdoll. He is really trying to t-off on her kicking and all. Probablly a good thing he was drunk because if any of those punches he throws connect and sha may not have gotten up. It doesn't matter to me if she slapped him in the face or kicked him in the balls it DOES NOT give you the right to lay your hands on anyone. It makes me wonder what this guy has done to people in the past while wearing his badge and gun.

It is also terrible that it sounds like the cops were only going to charge him with a misdemeanour instead of felony charges. The guy on the news made it sound like another cop may be charged because they were trying to make the situation seem like less than it was. Cops covering other cops asses. is it really any wonder why no one likes cops? Confusedcratch:

Or why some people are reluctant to call the cops for help in the first place. :?
