If anyone is unfamiliar with the Grind House genre they should check out The Something Weird series of videos.

Is this for real...or am I just missing something???
Nope, this is real! The two movies are separated by a bunch of fake trailers, so Danny Trejo's minigun motorcycle isn't actually in either movie. Apparently Edgar Wright, Eli Roth and Rob Zombie are doing some of the fake trailers, so the bits between the real movies should kick just as much ass.
looks good. can't wait for the bloodbath
I somehow think I will be going to the theatre alone for these ones...
Finally saw this on the weekend and I adored every second of it. Hands down the most entertaining movie of the year so far. I seriously can't remember the last time I had that much fun at the movies. I'd say "Death Proof" was the better of the two films and featured one of the greatest car chases I've ever seen. "Planet Terror" was more about silly laughs and extreme gore, which of course is the whole point. Both movies were great. The icing on the cake were the hilarious fake trailers. "Hobo With a Shotgun" was probably my favorite. You can check out one of the fake trailers, "Thanksgiving" on Youtube. I'd post it here, but it's pretty nasty.

My wife and I are going to the movies this weekend - we were debating about this movie.
The debate is that it is over three hours long!!!
I might have to wait for the DVD.
I too really enjoyed these movies, they were great, I'd go and watch 90min of more trailers like that as well, the thanksgiving one is hilarious.

For some reason the showing I attended didn't have that one. Apparently it's a "Canadian bonus trailer", but I guess Cold Lake was too shitty to get the extra content. "Don't" was damn hilarious, though!
As for the features, Planet Terror was action-packed, gross, and pretty hilarious, whereas Death Proof was kind of slow but with awesome portions. Kurt Russel did a magnificent job with his character, so much so that I was rooting for him over the alleged heroines. Then again, the fact that Zoe and the girl playing Kim annoyed the crap out of me didn't help matters any.
Well worth your $10.

That Zoe girl is an actual stuntwoman, and that's really her on the hood of the car during the chase scene. Apparently she was Uma Thurman's stunt double on the "Kill Bill" movies.
Spectacular, from start to finish. Don't get up to pee. I expected Death Proof to be a lot worse from the reviews I've heard, but it wasn't so. It did have Tarantino's patented dialogue in excess, but the whole thing played out perfectly.
Definitely a movie that benefits from having a large crowd full of those rude assholes we usually hate at films.
I haven't got out to see it yet, I'm still pressuring my girlfriend to see it, she doesnt seem too impressed by the trailers, lol.
But I heard on the radio this morning there is talk of breaking the movies up and showing them separatly because people were complaining about the 3 hour length. Seems like that would take away from the experience.
