I watched the CBC Test the Nation show tonight, and from a reliability standpoint I have to say that the results were quite accurate...for me at least. I have had my IQ tested 5 times in my life (including tonight's)...once as a child at the University by a Prof who was floored by my Trivial Pursuit skills at the age of 8, once before I went away for school, once as part of a job interview process and once on one of those internet tickle.com tests (which was the least accurate of the 4 but only because this particular one had no time component which is crucial for an accurate score)
And then the test I did tonight fell right in line with my previous 4 scores, so, not only was it fun to do a 1.5 hour quiz, I can attest that the scores are actually reflective of your true IQ.
I got 54/60 correct and am between 25-34 years of age which yielded an IQ score of 134...which is the 3rd time I have scored that number, one test proved to be just higher (the internet one), and another test was just lower (job interview).

137, most of those questions were far easier than you see on a normal iq test, the vocab was a joke. the only annoying thing was the time factor.

You know what's weird? I scored the same as you (54/60) but because I'm between 35-44 years old, my IQ is 13
3. Does that mean that over the last 4 yrs, I became one IQ point dumber? Earlier IQ tests have always placed me between 130-135, so I guess it was pretty accurate.

I agree, day_for_night. I could have easily scored perfect if I had the freedom to use my test time effectively. I didn't need 20-30 seconds to do the math and language questions but I could have used more time on the perception diagrams. If I was taking a real IQ test, I could have burned through the easy stuff and spent more time on the challenging stuff.
That sounds a bit boastful, doesn't it?
Well, this either speaks to how ridiculous the test is, or the sort of geniuses that Hipbase attracts. The standard deviation on most valid IQ tests is 15 points. 2 standard deviations is kind of the statistical rule for either having outliers due to error, or freakish subjects. Considering that 3 of the 4 people posting on this thread were outside 2 SDs, and the other person was well above average, I think this test may be a bit whack. IThe only thing any IQ test measures is how well you do on an IQ test.
Or maybe I'm just bitter because I got an 85. Bahahahaha just kidding, like I'm going to sit through 60 fucking questions on an internet IQ test.

Absolutely true.
On the other hand, people are more likely to post their scores if they are high, especially after Goulet opens the bidding with 130-something. And we have only a few responses, so it's quite possible that we're looking at a biased sample that tells us nothing about the validity of the test ... at testing how well people respond to IQ tests.

Well I tried to refer to that sampling bias with my "the geniuses Hipbase attracts" line...Or maybe it should be, the geniuses that feel confident enough to post after Goulet.
But seriously, 60 questions? I didn't even have the attention span to get past the opening questions.
Well, I won't take IQ tests. Having got a nice high score in the past, I won't do anything that could harm my self-esteem.
I will lower your scoring average a bit..
I scored a 93, which seems low to the rest of you geniuses, but it was right near the top of the average person.
Here's my excuse, i did it at work, and in the middle of the math section my boss was at my desk so i had it minimized, so i did hirrbly in that section..
is that good enough, can i still post around here?
Well I have an announcement to make. In the interest of skewing national results, I just took the IQ test and answered randomly for every question. The only difference between who I said I was and who I really am is that I said I was from Newfoundland and my favourite spectator sport was curling. In my quest to reinforce stereotypes, I scored a 51.

Got 126, but I just woke up. I'm going to try it again in 12 hours and see if the score changes any.
My most recent score on an IQ test was 151. We'll just say it wasn't that high this time.

well, to be fair to the test, i've been scored twice before...one of which was a 6 hour test as pre-employment screening. i got 136 and 139 on those two other exams, so this one does fall squarely between two very respected IQ tests.
My beef is that the limiting factor isn't the difficulty of the questions, but the time constraint.
