Match-up #7 - So Hard Done By Vs. Fire In The Hole

Studio only is what we are discussing, right? Because if we throw the live translation into the mix, this gets way more difficult.

Oh man! This one is a doozy! :rambo: Two songs from DFN. Wow. I don't think I can decide. They are both utterly brilliant. FITH has a great hard driving rhythm of ferociousness while SHDB is just so damn groovy and has a bass line that mesmerizes.
Crap. These guys both play on Team DFN, shouldn’t there be a rule against that.
I agree with Chris though, if you considered the live versions in your decision it might tip the scales. However, the live version of SHDB with Steve Berlin on sax from Chicago 2002 holds its own against some of the killer versions of Fire in the Hole over the years.

For me, this wasn't a very close matchup. I have never really gotten in to Fire In the Hole. And SHDB is just way too good.
After listening to both though, it was closer than I thought.
well i just listened to both and it really helped me make my decision. i think this one just may be the closest one yet but my vote went to So Hard Done By.... just has that slight edge on Fire in the Hole.
16-13 for SHDB - I believe that is the tightest race to date...
Fire in the Hole would've been a better song if it had been on another album, but it just gets overpowered on DFN. So Hard Done By just hits the mood of this album on the head, and it's hard to recreate. Honestly, this is the most difficult decision I've had to make all month, and I broke up with my girlfriend on Thursday. In the end, I had to go with SHDB.
Just then the stripper stopped in a coughing fit,

So Hard Done By sums up why Day For Night is the best CD they've done..Fire in the Hole, as cool as it is, just isn't AS cool
You really know how to pick 'em, Shane! That was a tough one.
Toughest pick for me thus far – but as great as Fire in the Hole is live – there is something intangible about SHDB that gives it the edge

Fire gets my nod over SHDB. Neither one are my faves from D for N but I do like it when they close with Fire live.
