Agreed!
I loved the jump and fist pump by Gord when the bear decided he wanted no part of the bridge. The ending is funny when the bear waves to Gord asking to come in, and looked very sad when Gord denied him (you're not coming in). Also, at the end when Gord was on the stairs and the bear was standing, it looked like he was up to Gord's chin, a coincidence, I think not!
Come back this summer, and bring Last night & luv sic damnit!
Yeah, the fist pump when the bear turned around at the bridge was great! Pretty decent acting by Gordie as well.
Great acting job by the bear too! (Hopefully no animals were harmed in the making of this video!). I didn't know that there were polar bears in BC, but then again I didn't know that they were in Central Park either. Good job Gus! :thumb:
Lol! I actually thought the polar bear was pretty clever. A great concept, that's for sure. It's being played at a lot but the video's director (whoever that may be) made it original.
On Gord's acting, like I mentioned earlier, I think his timing is great. He's got the looks and although he's sort of consistent in his style of acting, I think he could pull of more than some music videos and a small scene in the Trailer Park Boys movie.
"What about you Cory, you got any kids..?"
Gordy has figured out how to act on camera. Small movements verses the large nature of his live performance. I wonder if the video has an environmental sub-context. Gordy is motoring along in the wilderness when his Hybrid car breaks down. He is taking the water from the lake when he meets Gus, the wayward polar bear. The melting ice caps have forced Gus into our world but old Gordo certainly can't let a giant wild animal into his world. Sorry Gus, survival of the weakest and all.
Yep. That's exactly what I figure it means. At the end, when Gus walks away the camera focuses in on the ice melting off the roof.
GREAT video..too bad the music channels in canada won't play the damn thing
on a side note Im sad they picked this song for the next single. Its not one of my fav songs on the album, actually I dont even really like it
Great Video. I was hoping the rest of the band was rocking out in the cabin and Gord was going to join.
O well, the bear is interesting

just in time for IPY....ice melting - gus ranging south

The close up of the "hybrid" symbol led me to that conclusion immediately, and suspected as much when the vid began because of the car choice! Good on them for being able to work that into their shows and on screen also! Can't save the planet, well they're throwing in a big helping hand!
Tid Bit: For those who didn't know, the Beer cups served at the fort york shows in Toronto were biodegradable and would be gone in 50-60 days approx.
I'm not sure how much airplay the video will get on MuchMusic, but they are streaming it on MuchMusic website.

To respond to most of the posts so far (too many to quote):
My friend's mom worked on this video. She did make-up. It wasn't an open set, so I wasn't allowed to go meet Gord. I asked. Repeatedly. I was under the impression it was shot around Buntzen Lake, which is in a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia. It's a beautiful place. If any of you ever come here in the summer, go hiking there. However, it looks like parts of it were shot around the Capilano Resevoir in North Vancouver. I'll ask for confirmation.
Yes, this video is about global warming.
Yes, it is pretty friggin' awesome.

I should of added the frequently useful Canadian expression Eh? to end that sentence. Without it I look like Captain Obvious.
