JOEL PLASKETT EMERGENCY
ASHTRAY ROCK TOUR '07

The Joel Plaskett Emergency heads out on tour in support of their new cd "Ashtray Rock".

Starting in Quebec City on May 3rd and wrapping up in Toronto with two shows at the Opera House on May 25 and 26, the Ashtray Rock Tour promises to be the Joel Plaskett Emergency's most successful and exciting Canadian tour to date. Supported by the Peter Elkas band and with Peter joining the Emergency onstage, these concerts will showcase the band's new work and will feature audience favourites like the 2006 hit "Nowhere With You".

First single "Snowed In" is currently being picked up by Canadian rock radio across the country and a second single "Fashionable People" will hit Hot A/C radio later this month. Ashtray Rock will be available in stores on April 17th. Already being touted as the band's best work, Ashtray Rock is a mini rock opera, a landmark album in the career of an already celebrated songwriter.

Hot on the heels of winning three ECMA Awards (Single of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and DVD of the Year), the Emergency headed off to a sold out tour of Australia. They will return just in time to take their show on the road in Canada!

If you live in Winnipeg go and see Joel at the WECC. Get little venue, I would if I could again but I moved.

Should be a good disc.
Great news except for the tour dates. The guy is from NS and there are no maritime dates. Good stuff.

Hey Tiger, Joel's reading your mind, now turn that frown upside down :thumb:

HEY! It’s come to our attention that there’s been an inordinate amount of teeth-gnashing and general unrest regarding the announcement of the Joel Plaskett Emergency so-called, “National Tour.”

First of all, we cannot believe that anyone in Atlantic Canada would think - for a second - that the band wouldn’t have something lined up for them. And secondly, we still can’t believe the first impression…

The JPE will be “summering” in Atlantic Canada. I promise you, there will be some shows! Stay tuned for details…

HAHA. That's good stuff. Plaskett is not only a talented musician but he's a mind reader. :thumb: PLEASE JOEL, COME TO THE CONFED CENTRE OR THE JUBILEE THEATRE.
When I saw the concert dates the first thing I thought was, "People are going to freak," and then "but I'm sure Joel has something up his sleeve!"

Aside from a pointy elbow, I mean.
Signed copies of Ashtray Rock @ MapleMusic, ordered mine today....

Might be a bit early, but anyone got a review yet?
Joel didn't forget! Anyone going to end of semester Joel Plaskett show at the Wave this Saturday? ROCK ON JOEL! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :thumb:
I picked up the new album last night, and I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. "Snowed In/Cruisin" is a great song!
Yes, I went to see Plaskett and, YES, HE ROCKED! :thumb: :thumb:

How'd the new songs sound live? Do you remember the setlist?
I read somewhere the other day that Joel Plaskett is supposedly confirmed to play Shoreline in Rollo Bay (PEI) again this summer, along with Ron Sexsmith, the White Stripes, and others TBA.

Sorry, I'm no good with remembering setlists. Some of the new songs he played, I'm not even sure of the name of them because I haven't picked up his new cd yet. The songs sounded great. Highlights for me were "Drunk Teenagers" which he opened the show with, "Extraordinary", and "Maybe We Should Just Go Home", which closed the show, and "I Love This Town". Sorry for the lack of much of a review. Like I said, I wasn't familiar with some of the new songs but everything sounded great to me. Joel gave it his all and was reminding me a little of Gord at one point where he was wiping his brow with a towel and waving the towel around for a bit. The crowd was great for not fighting, which surprised me, shocked me actually. "Fashionable People" sounded pretty darn good too. Joel took drums for that one and the drummer played guitar. It's quite a catchy song.
