Word of advice if you make the trip. The east bound I-90 exit from rt.179 will be closed till August so you can't get back on the thruway east bound from there (dending which way you come down from Canada, if you don't take the I-190 to rt 5 (skyway) and you take the I-90 to the Milestrip exit, Milestrip is the closed one)

Warning...this whole thing is being very poorly managed already and was not really well planned. They have been handing out wristbands already with cd purchase, but have been giving a disclaimer about the wristband not guarenting anyone an autograph because they dont know how long the band can stay and all that. A simple solution would have been to say the first x amount of people to buy the cd can get it signed, etc. They also said you need to bring your recipt and that only the cd can be signed. They are already making excuses, which doesn't give me a good feeling. When I stopped by last night at 8:30 there were 3 other people buying cd's, all of whom already have the cd (same as me) but just bought it for the signing, so lets hope they aren't dissapointed. Chances are FYE did not know what they were getting themselves into as employees there said how crazy it had been and phones were ringing non stop. Here's hoping it all works out...I know I'll be there either way. It's my birthday
this whole FYE thing is going to be very intersting the fire marshell has to come in and state how many ppl they can alot inside the building. then fye will do something. I am thinking its goin to be 1st come 1st in the door till X amount of ppl are in. So ill see you all in line friday nite i only live mins away from this fye and theres a great supermarket across the st . with semi good beer
Are people really going to start lining up Friday night?! Crazy! Don't get me wrong, I definitely want to see them upclose and acoustic, but waiting outside in the freezing cold, then all morning, then in line for four hours for about 30 minutes of the Hip -- is it worth it?!
Now that that's said, where is the FYE store in the mall in relation to the closest mall entrance?
How many people are buying the World Container CD to get the wristband, and does the wristband get you a better place in line or just an "opportunity" to get it signed?
Anyone interested in "line sharing"? (getting a group to take turns holding a place in line while we take turns getting warm, taking pee breaks, etc?)
There is supposed to be some big time production company handling this event. The company handles all of FYE's in store promotions like this. When this news first broke, I called the store manager and he told me that this is something FYE does all the time and they never have any major problems. He also explained that it is not something the local FYE staff will be running, they actually bring in a "team" to run the whole shebang. With that said, i think it's going to be a nightmare.
Just got back from this. It wasn't as packed as I was expecting. Some or all of the performance will be on WGRZ (channel 2 in Buffalo) during their Kids Escaping Drugs marathon. The band did 5 songs

Torrent will be up in about 15 minutes.
Crowd built slowly & orderly, couldn't really estimate it.
Set wasn't really acoustic either.
All in all, a well run event.
Granted, I wasn't in the line for autographs that looked like it would keep the Hip 'til showtime, so I'm betting some people will get turned away eventually.
