Can anyone recommend a site to download some string cheese incident from? I've never heard them and I see they have alot of music at livedownloads.com and I'd like to hear them before I purchase some of thier shows.

I was fortunate enough to make the trip down to Atlanta in April 2002 to catch back-to-back SCI shows at the historic Fox Theatre. The first night was a real treat (it was the 20th of April, which is a global holiday for the jam-band counter-culture).

I'm not an SCI zealot, but I will say this: that band is one solid collection of musicians. They are definitely the hottest thing going on the jam-band circuit here in the States, and the newly-anointed tour-de-force amongst neo-hippy circles now that Phish has packed it in.

Their sound is quite 'Phishy', but their material compares more favorably to The Dead, as someone mentioned earlier. They tend to stick closer to rootsy, folk structures like blues, bluegrass, and country-western, but they are known to spin off some jazz-fusion. They'll even rip out some Carribean beats and calypso sounds....and reggae, too!

All in all, a very crafty and entertaining act. I was very impressed, but for some reason I just can't get to deeply into them....
