Paul Langlois with John McDermott (or vice-versa)
#1

Hello out there! Wanted to let people know if they're interested that I'll be playing a show with John McDermott at Hugh's Room in TO on the night of Thurs. Feb 7th. We'll each do a set with his guys, Jason Fowler and Mark Lalama. FYI it's a cool venue + John puts on a great show always. Anyway, that's it for now! Here's a link for tickets: https://hughsroomlive.com/event/john-mc ... -thursday/

And this is from the ticket link:

Paul Langlois is perhaps best known as the guitarist of The Tragically Hip, though with two solo albums under his belt and cross-country tours to support them, Paul has been quick to make a name for himself independently from the band. Known for his powerful lyrics as much as he is for is tight guitar riffs, Langlois’ current solo album, Not Guilty, is a collaborative effort with fellow musicians Jeff Montgomery, Mauro Sepe and fellow Hip musician Rob Baker. It was the fact that Langlois is a huge John Prine fan which initiated a friendship with McDermott and his musical director Jason Fowler. This led to the two inviting Paul to record a beautiful rendition of John Prine`s, Speed at the Sound of Loneliness, on John`s album entitled, Just Plain Folk.

Cool as fuck. What a collaboration I would have never have had imagined. And apparently originally happened in 2005. Here's the Spotify link to the John McDermott album with Paul collaboration mentioned, as well as what looks another song with Paul on it not mentioned in that blurb: John McDermott - Just Plain Folk: https://open.spotify.com/album/08iSsiLi ... lRFBR-1I3Q

According to a report on Reddit, Paul played an original song for the first time last night, and also covered Yer Possessed.

Not only can I confirm this happened, but I can also confirm there were tapers in the crowd with their gear set up. Hopefully, one day, the show will see the light of day.

Gotta say, John McDermott might be one of the nicest fellows I've ever met. Total class act. Before his set, he walked around to every table in the bar and introduced himself, shaking hands and thanking us for coming.

Here is the show here. Thanks markslog & MattyK. Hughs Room let the guys patch in so I took Marks soundboard and tossed it together with one of Matt's camera's. Nice to sit with the guys and for them to share this beauty. Was nice to see Paul play this set with such a stellar band...
