Hey folks...
Going to his show here in Halifax on Saturday night. Just wondering if anyone knows his taping policy. Does he have one, or is it venue-specific? Anyone have any SRB taping experiences?

I've taped SRB on multiple occasions and they have an open taping policy, however they are not as dilligent as The Hip on letting the venue know. I would send an email to their management and get confirmation ahead of time.

It's a converted warehouse on the harbour, Sean, at Pier 23 right behind the Westin Hotel. Can't wait!!

Hey Rory:
Yeah I would recommend contacting Sam's manager, Dave Spencer. He's generally pretty good at getting back to you. You can mention my name if you want (I've taped Sam many times over the past four years).
Make sure you check out the openers, Wintersleep. Good ol' Halifax boys. They'll rock your socks off.

Just got back! Sean, where were you? I was under the impression you were not going. We were in the all-ages section, front row, right by Eric (keys). That was the eleventh time I've seen Sam, and it was easily the best show of them all. Were it not for the Hip, this guy would be the best live show in Canada, bar none. Opened with The Resistance, threw in a brand new song that will b on the War Child CD, song was called Magic on My Mind. Closed with a blistering Eileen. The jam that they do during Mind Flood is mesmerizing, seriously. I actually closed my eyes for a few seconds and I was taken to a different place.. Were it not so late and we didn't have a babysitter to get home to, I would've waited around to chat with the pint-sized dynamo, but alas, we are parents and responsibility beckons.
The venue, called the Cunard Centre, is a converted warehouse. It was cavernous, but the sound was unbelievable! There must have been easily a couple thousand people. Sean, I eagerly await your review.
Cheers!

Rory, I was basically where you were except on the opposite side (in front of Dave Nugent). Overall, what a damn impressive night. Wintersleep set the bar high, and I personally was blown away by the first half of their set. Typical opening act syndrome hit me after that (too much anticipation for SRB). My only Wintersleep somplaint was that sometime I found the vocals reminded me of Creed. You should never be reminded of Creed at a concert. Anyways, it wasn't enough for them not to kick ass? (Does that make sense)?
And then SRB. Wow.
I've seen them three times, and this time was by far the best. He played a typical SRB set, but was still phenomenal. Highlights for me were 'With A Bullet' and of course, my favourite SRB cut, "Uprising Down Under". And I've seen 'Don't Walk Away Eileen' every time Sam has played, yet this time... wow. Phenomenal.
And now, the Cunard Centre. Random. Amazing. Apparently its where Dubya made his speech a few years back. And when I saw the building from the outside, I was really worried about the sound. But once inside, anti-sound bounce panels (?) were placed along all the walls. Such a cool venue. Directly next to harbour/pier 23 or 21. Anyways, the entire concert, you can see the massive ships docked in the harbour (directly next to the building). I was extremely impressed with the crowd volume (not sound, but quantity), and it seemed like Sam liked the quantity as well. I've been to the venue where they played in Fredericton two nights ago. It could have held maybe 400 people, and I would say there was well over 1000 last night.
Thats all for now. If I remember more later that has to be discussed, I'll post it.
Peace.
