I'm currently reading a terrific biography on them called "Beds are Burning" and I can't put it down. Lots of great stories and anecdotes from all the band members, as well as many of the people they worked with. There's even a brief mention of the Clayoquot Sound protest gig they performed in B.C. during the '93 ARA tour, but for some reason the Hip aren't mentioned at all. But that's a minor complaint, as the book is probably one of the most entertaining and informative music biographies I've ever read. It's inspired me to revisit some of their albums, which I haven't listened to in ages. Man, these guys put out some great stuff back in the day. Even their 2002 farewell album "Capricornia" kicks ass. It's too bad they called it quits, because I would've loved to have seen them live one more time. I miss them.

I got that book last fall and it really is an interesting read. I never knew much about the early days of the band so it was worth it just for that part. Recently I downloaded a video of a show they did in Montreal in 1985, which just reinterates what an amazing band they were. I miss them too!

One of my very favorite bands. Their live album "scream in blue" was solid. Gonna check out this book.
