I feel The Hip themselves have alot to do with the results of this match up. NOIS is a great tune but by overplaying the song on every tour, it seems to have lost its appeal and fans have become slightly bored with the song.

The opening riff still causes audiences to go nuts but by midway through the song the thrill is over.

I think The Hip could really reinvigorate NOIS by only playing it every 5th or 6th concert. Ofcourse there would always be the casual fan who gets pissed because he/she didn't get to hear the song at their show.

I wonder how many fans would complain if they played Thugs every night...

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I don't think the Hip play concerts for the diehard fans. They know we're going to buy every album and check out every concert we can. I think the setlists are more aimed towards the casual fan. Someone who, for example, hasn't picked up an album since Day For Night, goes to a show and says, "Wow... that kicked my ass. Maybe I'll buy World Container" It explains the "Yer Favorites" setlists we've been seeing these last couple tours. Most casual fans want to hear NOIS and Courage and Little Bones and would leave the concert upset if they didn't hear all their old favorites. I (and I believe most people on the base) would love to see a setlist with all those forgetten gems we dream about hearing live again.

Could just be me...

I agree, but they should at least play 3 gems per concert or so, and switch them up like they did on the club tour.. its really disappointing when they don't play any at all sometimes

I somewhat agree. I think that big stadium shows and festivals are aimed towards casual fans. But, I think they keep the Hip Heads in mind when they play small venues and little shows, like when they were promoting WC, or something like that.

Good point yet somehow I feel if the song stats were reversed and Thugs had been played live 590 times and NOIS only 81, the voting may have been different.

New Orleans is the biggest song they have ever written. It put them on the map....well...at least the map of Canada and Eastern and Northern United States...

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that them playing NOIS at shows is like Aerosmith playing Walk This Way, U2 playing With or Without You, Pearl Jam playing Jeremy or whatever. It does, and probably should, be played at 80-90 percent of their shows because it is their most recognizable song.

If the Hip were to have an article written about them in an encyclopopedia, the first song mentioned would be New Orleans is Sinking.

I'm not saying to vote for it...just trying to justify its place in their history, and in their setlists.

I agree that NOIS is a great song, and has done a lot for the band, but I've never really "gotten" it. It might have something to do with the fact NOIS gets played so often, who knows but I just prefer Thugs as a song.
