A peaceful man who wanted nothing less than the same for others.

Wasn't it 24 years ago? 1980 right?

He was certainly one of a kind, a pioneering talent to be sure.

OLP's version of Imagine is a good listen for a night like this.

Thanks! The Weakerthans are amazing. I couldn't believe it when the Hip announced them as their special guests for New Years Eve. This is basically the ultimate dream concert for me, and of course I don't live anywhere near Hamilton. Story of my life. Why oh why does Ontario always get the good gigs??? Enjoy the show you lucky bastards.

The original Lennon version is even better, IMO.

OLP does imagine, GEEZ that must be painfull. Does maida make his little noises while he sings it too.

Try Blues Traveler's version I'm sure it is better that OLP. Nothing beats the original though.

I was saying that listening to the original Lennon version (as opposed to the OLP version) is a better way to mark the occasion.
Surely Stephen wasn't insinuating that the OLP version is better all-around.. was he?

That was a superb performance by Young. The guy just oozes emotion in his songs. A true legend, as was Lennon.

You guys are correct, the original will NEVER be topped. I feel that way about all songs that are covered by different artists. The original should always be considered the best and all the covers are just different versions and interpretations of the original creative process that happened when the song was written.
