Anybody planning a trip this winter? I would like to go somewhere hot in Jan. or Feb.
I haven't done my homework yet. Has anybody found some good deals? I'm thinking Florida may be cheap on account of all the hurricanes they've experienced this year. Miami Beach sounds pretty good. I went to Vegas last May and I would go back in a second if it was warm like that in the winter. I'm not really into the Dominican-Cuba-Mexico fad. I would, however, go to a caribbean island such as Jamaica. My sister said the nicest island she's been to was Aruba, but it's quite pricey. How about cheap cruises?
Ideas anyone?

I'm going to the Maritimes with my girlfriend the first weekend in December to see thehip in Halifax and Sydney. We were planning on going south to Punta Cana but decided against it because of all the damage to the resorts. We ended up booking an 11 day cruise in Hawaii for next July.

For the caribbean I'd stay clear of Jamaica. I've never been myself but have heard from family members with lots of caribbean experience and their experience there was not good. Probably a generalization but it would seem that they do not appreciate tourists rather they resent them. I've heard the all-inclsive joints there are all right but to leave them is not recommended.
As for other places, I'd highly recommend other islands in the caribbean like the BVI's and the Southern West Indies, though they're not all that cheap. You might find deals down in Grenada due to the hurricanes. I think the best deals to be had on the islands is to rent a house for a week with at least 3 others and buy and cook your own meals.
As for cruises, they're not really my cup a tea but I've heard some good things about ones directed at the younger markets.
You might be right with the florida thing though, there could be some deals to be had there but there's probably a reason for the deals.
As for me... no warm holidays this year. I will be heading back to the BVI's for some sailing next winter though. For this year I'm sticking to the ski hills. :thumb:

Oct 21: I have plane tickets for Ottawa the week before Christmas to visit my father, who I haven't seen in a year
Oct 27: Letter comes in the mail from my employer: NOBODY GETS ANY TIME OFF BETWEEN DEC 5 AND JAN 15.
Oct 30: I send a very polite e-mail to the office saying I am a student and can't take my holidays anytime I want, and I was never told about the policy when i was hired, and my tickets were booked before the fucked-up order decree came down.
Nov 1: I receive a very polite "You talkin' to me? I don't see nobody else, you must be talkin' to me" e-mail in return saying if I rock the boat, I just might get thrown overboard.
Nov 2, 1:15 am: I place a very short, very rude phone call to the company's answering machine in the middle of the night because if I actually had to deal with anyone from head office right now I would probably cost myself my job. But why the fuck do I want to work for these corporate fuckwits anyway?

So, I thought I'd answer my own post.
I decided on a 5 day cruise out of Miami. Going to Grand Caymen followed by Ocho Rios Jamaica. Good price, cheap flight, hopefully going to see some nice weather.
Plus, it makes an excellent X-Mas gift for the girlfriend.
