watched this again last night, and talked to my buddies about it..hardly anybody likes this movie, and i don't understand why...it's a great human tragedy...it's a classic monster movie..it's one of the best comic movies ever in my opinion...anybody have any thoughts??

i thought the movie was ok, it could've been much better, but i think they're set up nicely for a sequel now...part of the problem was how long it took before the Hulk came out and started smashing things...when you go to see a movie about the Hulk, that's pretty much what you want to see...like i said, i think the next one will be much better...

Spidey 3 and Ghostrider should be interesting as well.

It would've been much better, i think, had they split the story (perhaps poetically) into two separate films, i.e. the first movie as Bruce Banner's backstory leading up to morphing into the Hulk, then a second film that deals with the Hulk getting chased down by the military and battling the Mighty Nick Nolticon.

I agree that it took WAY too long to get to the Hulk showing up on screen, but at the same time, the backstory is really critical as well. Tough call.

oh yeah, it's important, but it's not that complex of a story...he has an accident in the lab and becomes the hulk lol! it's not like Batman Begins where they had a lot of shit to explain...

Hmmm, bit of an over-simplification maybe?

In that case, to simplify it even further, I think it would be rather difficult to have a "Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde" story if you just skipped over all the Dr. Jeckyl stuff simply to get to the parts where Mr. Hyde goes around smashing stuff.

That is, unless the special effects really frikin' cool. You can always count on CG smashing to fill theatre seats!

yeah, i know there's a bit more to it than i posted, but i was trying to prove my point that it took too long for the Hulk to show up in it.

i know, and i agree fully that it took WAY to long to get going. Maybe on DVD it doesn't seem to take as long, but I remember having to sit through a solid 30 minutes of previews in the theatre (opening week) before the damn film even started. I remember wishing they'd just capture the Hulk at one point so they could wrap things up.

Solution: make Hulk sit through the previews and see how long it takes before he gets angry.
