Gord in British music mag
#1

i got a hold of this magazine and it is a GREAT interview with Gord. Really long and in depth where he discusses Tragically Hip stuff, as well. Plus, the CD is cool too. Lots of good bands on there. i think i prefer the Christmastime In Toronto version on this CD.

From Gord's website:

December 5, 2003

Greetings GD fans,

Gord recently completed an interview with Comes With A Smile, a unique UK music magazine, where enthusiasm and great writing replaces the trend-driven flavour of the mainstream music press. Beautifully bound, with a creative layout, the magazine also includes a full-length compilation CD of previously unreleased tracks with every copy.

The current issue includes a feature interview with Gord and the cover CD includes an alternative version of "Christmastime In Toronto." Other artists featured in this issue and on the CD include, Willard Grant Conspiracy, M Ward and The Weakerthans.

For more information on how to order, or subscribe online (including PayPal), go to: www.comeswithasmile.com

Recent issues have featured interviews with artists such as Guided By Voices, Vic Chesnutt, Sloan, Grandaddy, Calexico, Pernice Bros., Sparklehorse and Hawksley Workman, to name a few. The magazine also features a range of lesser-known, but no less worthy, up and coming acts.

Have a great holiday season,
WA staff

Would that be the same version that was made available online to anyone who bought BOTN??

Recall from the BOTN site:

Quote:Bonus Live Tracks

After you pick up your copy of Battle of the Nudes go to the website address listed on the CD case to download exclusive live material recorded on Gord's last solo tour.

If it's the same "alternative" version of CiT, then yeah, I've heard it, and prefer it to the CD version, although my favorite version is the one at the Lee's Palace show ("...well $#%$ you then...don't come..."  )

SoulTrain,

I don't have the case handy, but try affixing "/downloads" to your link and see what you get...

You have to subscribe to GD's mailer to gain access, if you aren't on it already...

woh... I'm not a big fan of either of these two outtakes... it seems they ditched the weird perspective and decided to fortify the CD with more of an actual 'rock' approach... 11th Fret is brutal off this site.... its sounds like an Indian tribal dance that was invaded with aliens...

I think it's retarded how Jordin Tootoo keeps getting asked "Why aren't you Eskimo? What's an Inuit?" Friggin American media...

Gee, I loved the alternate version of Christmastime in Toronto. He actually had two seperate, completely different single-worthy hooks. I would have had no idea which to chose for the album if I were him.
