Wristbands honour Mounties

Maintain the right. Many Canadians continue to make the effort to ensure we never forget those four brave RCMP officers who were killed in the Mayerthorpe area earlier this month. Last week, TD Canada Trust teamed up with Alberta radio stations in the Newcap Broadcasting group to launch the Maintain The Right Wristband fundraiser. Wristbands are black, with the RCMP's motto, Maintain The Right, impressed in bold letters. They are available at any Calgary TD Canada Trust location for two dollars apiece. The campaign aims to increase both awareness and money for the RCMP K Division Slain Peace Officers Fund to help families of RCMP officers who lose their lives in the line of duty. Mike Shannon, program director of Newcap's The Breeze 103.1 FM in Calgary, says the launch at the TD Canada Trust in the Eaton Centre last week was huge, and sales have been quite brisk since. "We produced an initial 25,000 and now we've reordered more," says Shannon. "As long as the demand is there we'll keep bringing them in."

I am surprised this fundraiser hasn't gone Canada-wide. I am sure they would make tons of money.
