Is it me or is the price to see the hip at the molson amphitheatre a little ridiculous......$60 plus $15 in service charges = $75.....I went and saw them there in 2002 and didn't think the venue was that great, plus if i remeber correctly the show has to be done by 11pm as there is some rule that states that concerts can't go past 11 pm. I would much rather see them at one of the festivals for $30. Don't get me wrong, they're great live and I love their music but $75 is a bit much. I don't think i'm being cheap on this one either.

yeah it is expensive, but then again its the hip right???
if you dont mid my asking where were you tickets in 2002??
i've had a great time in the 100, 200, and 300
but seem not too have as good a time in the lawns (probably because i'm blind and cant see)
i guess thats why the lawns are 1/2 as much as the seats are

I have to agree with you on this one macyme...I did a double-take when the total cost came up as $152.00 for two tickets which can be considerered average (200s on the side) at best...
That said, here's a quick rundown of other acts at the Amphitheatre this summer and their price ranges (before surcharges and tax added in):
TTH - CA $30.50 - CA $60.50
James Brown - CA $10.00 - CA $75.00
Britney Spears - CA $36.20 - CA $99.20 (Good lord!!!!)
DMB - CA $46.10 - CA $70.85 (a good comparison)
Edgefest - CA $29.50 - CA $45.00
Great Big Sea - CA $39.50
Nelly Furtado - CA $29.50 - CA $49.50
Rod Stewart - CA $36.75 - CA $116.25 (!!)
Evanescence - CA $19.50 - CA $45.00
Alice Cooper - CA $10.00 - CA $52.50
Bryan Adams - CA $10.00 - CA $69.50
Sarah McLachlan - CA $30.00 - CA $69.50 (another good reference point)
Rush - CA $27.50 - CA $115.00 (!!)
Looking at it in this light, I'd say the ticket prices are actually par for the course...

I know it's not the hips fault, but the amphitheatre does charge alot regardless of the act, the hip usually play the ACC for a reasonable price, maybe it's the fact that i enjoying watching the hip play at festivals where there are no seats and everyone seams to be more into the concert, nothing worse for me than seeing people sitting down and watching the concert, or only getting up when one of their radio songs are being played.

Agreed on the price: A bit much.
Disagree on the amp. I went to both shows in '02, and loved the place and the acoustics. It's a fine venue.

Back in 1998 I saw the Hip headline a camping festival in Erie, PA (1.5 hours from the boarder). $30 for a weekend pass with tons of bands. They only sold about 1000 tickets. The Hip were cut short after an hour when the 5 ft. snow fence that they used to seperate the fans from the band came down!

And, it was a full show that they stopped during the first song of the encore.

Oh, the Erie, PA show...Grape Jam...that rocked. We had a ball at that concert. We got there early, ran into The Hip three hours before their performance (way cool), and then had about 4th row from the stage for the show...until it got WAY too nuts towards the end of the concert...in which we moved back about 10 rows. Good thing, with that fence coming down like it did, I wouldn't want to be up there. Gord was so pissed about that.

Think tickets for this show are more expensive because it's a "special" Canada day show? It's not like The Hip play on Canada day every year...just a thought.

i really think it the amphitheatre, my god $50 to see nelly furtado plus services charges, who in their right mind would do that. rush is another example, i know some people love them and they're a great band but $115 is a bit much.......the hip have played molson park before and tickets were about 25-35 if i memorie serves me correct.

Aug 1 - Row 209, row p, dead centre. Not bad. Sound was iffy at times
Aug 2 - Lawns, around section 412. Incredible. Crystal clear sound.
It should be noted that night 2 was also the better show of the two (this should be no surprise -- night 2 is always better)
We're getting lawns tomorrow with the Hip Club sale. It'll be wierd, back to back nights on the lawn at the Lake. DMB one night, Hip the next. Finally, I'll have the accurate comparison fresh in mind about who puts on the better show (a collective *GASP* falls over the board)
Cheers
