ACC Sections 314-316
#1

THESE SECTIONS ARE TARPED OFF AND WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE SOLD. If your seats are in one of those sections you'll be relocated to a gondola box and given a program and free food. Like we were.

We've got a bird's eye view of a bird's eye view!

I have 314 for Sunday -- how did this all go down? do they take you aside when they scan you in (ie. direct you to guest services), or do you walk up to 314-316 only to be directed elsewhere.....plus my wife wants to know about the free food Wink (I am assuming its stale popcorn....ha ha ha....)....more importantly how was the view from the gondolas?

We had the same deal tonight, were supposed to be in section 315. Right as we entered the venue they scanned our ticket and a worrying "beep beep beep" went off on the machine (I had bought them through ticketmaster though so I knew nothing too bad could happen...). The usher told us we would have to head to Gate 6 to exchange our tickets. Once we got there they gave us the tickets for the box, a free programme with lots of pictures from the Fully Completely tour and postcards, plus said there would be pizza and popcorn upstairs. Each box section seems to hold about 100 or so people. However, there are a few rows in the box. Luckily ours were in row 1, so we had a clear view over the whole arena. I could see it not being as great in row 2, since you're raised up a good deal higher and there seemed to be more people walking around up there.

Overall it was a great experience in the box. The sound wasn't as clear as it probably would have been in 315 and it's definitely really high up and far from the stage, but enjoy the pizza and the free programme! And definitely try to ask for tickets in Row 1 if you have any sort of choice when you exchange tickets.

There is a heating rack with multiple trays of Pizza Pizza to help yourself to. There seemed to be lots, even at the end of the show there were people walking out with fresh slices. Not sure about popcorn but it was probably there somewhere.

Thanks for the update --- I am aware that Row 1 (and usually row 2) is a big difference from everything else (I've sat in the gondola for a Raptors game), I am sure we will know how to raise an appropriate (albeit polite) fuss if our seats are not able to see what needs to be seen (ha ha ha).....I know that I at least, am not there for the pizza and popcorn....ha ha ha......

I didn't want to complain about a single thing this entire tour, but...this sucked. Yeah, the free stuff was nice, but the view was awful--it was a bird's eye view of a bird's eye view; we were basically hanging over the stage--and it felt like we were watching the show instead of being at the show (if that makes sense). The people were great, but I'm glad that wasn't my one time seeing the tour. It was my fiancee's last time seeing the tour, and I wish she could've bowed out on a better note.

Just so we're clear: this wasn't one of the luxury suites. It was the press box.

Agreed that it felt like we were somewhat "separate" from the show. Our seats were about halfway along the side of the arena, so I found the view not too bad - we had two screens to watch and a fairly clear view of the stage. Not sure if things would have been better overall in 315, but I imagine the sound would have been much better. Probably the same for others up there but I couldn't understand anything Gord talked about all night. Still, just happy to have been there, I only paid $80 and had a great time...

For anyone else going on Friday/Sunday: make sure you ask for Row 1! Or even put up a stink and see if you can get seats elsewhere if you think it'll be too high up...can't hurt.

My advice: Show up right when the doors open, make a big (polite and respectful) stink and demand access to the "VIP" standing section thing behind the mixer on the floor. Pizza and popcorn and some pictures to justify a massive seat downgrade? I would not accept that, and MLSE knows better.

I would try a bluff: demand a full refund immediately or to be provided floor access. There's room on the floor (I was right beside this VIP thing, it was maybe 25% full), and it is way less of a pain in the ass to get you in there than figuring out how to refund your money. Remember, you're not lucky to be at the ACC, they're lucky to have you as a guest.

In my experience, which thankfully is limited, MLSE's pretty good at putting out fires. And in recent years their customer service has improved dramatically.

The first bit of that experience happened in 2011, when I was accused of stealing tip money at Real Sports. I didn't, but that didn't stop venue security from confronting me about it before they'd talked to either the servers or watched video surveillance...and then they didn't come back when they did those two things and realized they were barking up the wrong tree. Anyway, the next day I wrote a very polite message to MLSE and got a very polite apology and a very valuable gift card.
