#16

disgusting...i'm revoking your habship...

i'm not cheering for anyone...i'm calling that Ottawa wins it all...

much to the dismay of all us other motherfuckers pulling for a team in the Northeast...

and ya, you can say well, that's a mighty brave prediction to make after Ottawa gains a 2-0 series...BUT...i did vote for them to take the series in this poll, before the series started...so don't bother.

I see your not cheering for anyone, but your pulling for Ottawa...what's the difference really?

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

no...i'm pulling for the habs for next year...and the next 100 years after that as well...

I'm calling that Ottawa wins it all...no where in the post does it say i want them to win, or that i'm cheering for them...

the only hockey team I'm cheering for right now is The Sudbury Wolves...GO WOLVES GO! LET'S GO BACK TO PLYMOUTH FOR ONE MORE!

Puuh-leease.....Sens fans are the absolute worst of any group I know in that regard. Until these playoffs, most Sens fans I know would take more pleasure from seeing the Leafs lose than in seeing the Sens win. That's pathetic. Now that they actually have a real shot to win, everyone's on the bandwagon, and they're actually selling out their building for a change. Oh and how many Sens fans cheered for the Leafs when they made the conference finals in '99 and '02? None that I know of..

Well, I guess I'm not your typical Sens fan then... I only like to see the Leafs lose when it's against the Sens. It's not a bandwagon, I've always liked them and if I did follow a hockey team, they would be it. I was there cheering in blue in both '99 and '02. Like I said, I understand that there are hockey rivalries that flow deep in Canadian culture and that's fine - I just don't want a part of it. But a Canadian team trumps any other team for me... but hey, like I said... I'm not typical I guess.

Good on ya then, if I knew any Sens fans like you perhaps I'd be able to cheer for them. Best of luck to them for the sake of fans such as yourself. I'm not cheering for either team in the east, cause as much as I dislike the Sens, I also can't stand the Sabres' whining. Cheering for a team just because they're from Canada doesn't really do it for me either. The Ducks, for example, have more Canadian players than any of the 4 teams left, so if they were to win, The Cup would still spend plenty of time in this county over the summer.

I didn't realize that you had such active knowledge of the hockey culture in Ottawa from living in Toronto. Your whole notion of 'band-wagoning' is a little bit absurd. I'd like you to continue to pretend that band-wagoning doesn't exist in every city (Canadian or not; Toronto included) and in every sport. It certainly exists here, just as it did in Edmonton last year, Calgary two years before, and it did in Toronto in 2002.

Also, I invite you to examine the attendance statistics. Ignoring the fact that Ottawa would be predisposed to poorer attendance figures, based on the city size, and the relative infancy of the franchise, your logic (incorrect at that) provides that Ottawa is a bigger 'hockey town' then Edmonton, and Vancouver for the past seven years, and bigger then Toronto in the past two.

To be fair, I wasn't pulling for Toronto in 1999, or 2002, but to be realistic, Ottawa didn't just bounce Toronto from the playoffs (they did that themselves). To be clear, I don't expect you or anybody else with a diluted view of Ottawa, and it's fans, to get anything but a hard-on from the hate parade. I just find it irritating when people carry this delusional understanding of Ottawa, it's fans, and it's culture, into a forum and chastise any support, and dictate reason based on fabrication.

I'd like to welcome you to Ottawa to experience the support first-hand. I think we're having a parade in June... or something...

If it's not the Slackhawks in the Finals (and I don't know if it ever will be again), I'll always root for a team from Canada just because hockey means so much more to y'all up Nord. Doesn't matter which team either, preference being Sens=>Canucks=>Leafs/Habs=>Flames/Oil.

The Cup hasn't been won by a Canadian team in what, 73 years? It's about time.

I don't claim to have knowledge of the hockey cultre in Ottawa. As I stated earlier, my opinion of Sens' fans is formed as a result of those that I know personally. Regarding the band-wagoning, Leafs' fans have faithfully supported a team that hasn't won in 4 decades, and will continue to do so even if the streak lasts another 4 decades (or more). We may be stupid, but we're definitely not bandwagon jumpers.

Getting a little ahead of ourselves, aren't we?

Yeah I agree haha, the last thing Sens fans should be doing is predicting a cup parade. The next 6 wins won't be that easy.

They should get a parade win or lose... in my humble opinion.

They made it seem kind of easy. I must admit I was expecting something different from Buffalo tonight.

That's fine. Toronto has some of the most faithful fans going, and I can acknowledge that. I never questioned the loyalty of Toronto fans. I was simply arguing with your implication that Ottawa has no loyal fan-base, based on

And for the record, band-wagoning exists in Toronto, just as it does in every city, for every sport. To continue to pretend that it doesn't exist is ridiculous. You're more then aware that as any team (even the Leafs) progresses through the playoffs, a sizable portion of the community will begin to divert their attention to the respective team on an exponential level; following the scores, reading the 'sports news', learning a few names, discussing (or mostly asking questions, in the case of a primitive band-wagon jumper) the team... it's a natural psychological adjustment people make to 'belong' to their social surroundings; they are captivated by the excitement (as they should be), and are drawn towards the source. That's the magic of playoff hockey in this country... it draws people from all corners of the community to participate in the celebration. There are plenty of 'band-wagon jumpers' in this city, just as there was (and will be) 'band-wagon jumpers' in Toronto... if Scotiabank Place hadn't sold seats to the tune of 104.7% of its capacity this year (as well as the ridiculous regional, and domestic cable coverage that the Senators provided; I don't have numbers, but I suspect it is easily third, and there is a reason for that) the 'band-wagon' argument might be relevant, but as it stands, it isn't...

Entirely. But that drunken confidence vote got a little easier to swallow tonight...

Montreal Canadiens 1992/1993 series, against the L.A. Kings, swept the series in 4. But any leafs fan worth his weight in salt would agree that the Leafs should have been in there, not the Kings...........damn Gretzky, damn high stick........but I digress.......

It has only been 14 years, but I believe this is the longest drought without a Canadian team winning a cup ever..........
