Winnipeg show @ brand-new MTS Centre!
#1

I can't wait! This will be the first rock show at the new MTS Centre... and Winnipeg is the fastest selling concert in Canada so far.

MTS Centre is supposed to have amazing acoustics... I just can't wait... fuck yeah! It's still under construction, but should be ready in time, when the 50 year-old Winnipeg Arena shuts down for good.

Who else is going?

MTS Centre should hold 17,000 for a center-stage concert.

Are you referring to the Hip's canadian tour and winnipeg is the fastest selling concert?? If you are, London is the fastest selling since it is sold out in 12 minutes.

What are the plans for the old arena? Man, I've seen many concerts there...Metallica, Motley Crue, The Cult & Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith...almost sad to hear that it's being replaced.

Plans for the old arena? Too forward thinking were ideas of water parks and excitement, so I believe it's slated for more shopping space, an expansion onto Polo Park Mall. Perhaps a Starbucks or two, or another Walmart (the one down the road isn't enough)

Alas.

See you at the new arena! Parking whingers be damned!

Through these last several moments, words have taught me that words are folly and that...

I stand corrected on the fastest selling part... I must have messed something up there when listening to a True North rep.

As for the old Wpg Arena... the place is being demolished, and thankfully, because it has had its day. The place is an logistical and acoustical nightmare... and couldn't be used for much.

and where did winnipeg get the money for this?! yet they lost the Jets????

worst NHL arena EVER was Le Colisee in Quebec.. I can't believe that was anything more than a minor minor MINOR league houseleague team.

$133.5 million dollar arena

- $10 million from the city
- $10 million from the province
- $10 million from the feds
- the rest, private sector

as far as I know.

The anchor tenant is the Manitoba Moose. Between November and March, there is an event for 1 out of every 3 of those days that is already scheduled.

I took a tour, the place is beautiful!
